John Clayton said he expects the deal to be signed by tomorrow. Deal not done yet, but close. On why KC, he said KC gave him everything he wanted. Good money, complete control of personnel. Clark Hunt flew to Philly and met all of Reid's wants in order for him to cancel all other visits/flights. Then they immediately started working on the contract.

Nothing new but interesting none the less. Just had him on Sportscenter.

Quote from Eagles Forum:

"We've grown so tired of what he offers as a coach, but to outsiders, he's the "winningest coach in franchise history" with lots of success and a proven track record.

It's like having a hot female co-worker or friend that because you've known them so long, you know that their personality takes the hotness down significantly. To everyone else, they look like a solid 8 or 9, to you, with everything factored in, they look like a -8.

Blah. You'll have your Reid backers and Reid haters. Eagles fans are to Reid as KC fans are to Shottenheimer. We wanted to him gone for his inability to win when it mattered only to now see the other side of the coin. Eagles fans will be thinking the same thing in a couple of years. The grass isn't always greener. Especially when you let a good coach go with years left.

I compare it a lot to the Tom Davis situation at the University of Iowa (basketball). At the end, fans HATED him. Even though he made the NCAA Tourney 9 of 13 seasons, he was basically forced out after losing in the Sweet 16. Iowa fans were SO TIRED of the same thing over and over. They/We wanted a new head coach...A younger, hungrier, sexy hire. And we got it in the name of Steve Alford. Iowa basketball hasn't been the same since. Finally 12 years later, the team is starting to come around. This is the extreme case, but Eagles fans are playing with fire IMO.

Heres a fun one:

"He is NOT the answer. Are you a big fan of passing on 3rd and short or 4th and short? He is. Are you happy with no-name/no-talent linebackers. He is. Do you like to stick to the plan no matter how things are going in the game? He does.
When your team is struggling with the opponets, do you want your coach to devise some brilliant and novel strategies on the spur of the moment to win you the game? He won't. Do you want a brilliant clock manager? He isn't. Do you want someone who gives freedom to the players on the field or do you want a micromanager who keeps the offense plodding along even when it's hurry-up time? He is the latter.
Andy Reid is the Grim Reaper and we don't want him here. This is my worst nightmare. I was so hoping he would end up in San Diego so he could keep them down for a few years. He should have been fired five years ago. I would have loved to have seen some time with Donovan McNabb in his prime with a different head coach/offensive game plan. I think he could have been awesome.
Andy Reid looks good when his players win the game because they are better players. When you need gameday coaching and on-the-fly strategy, especially in the 4th quarter, Andy will fail. If the Chiefs have any success in the next few years, it will be because the drafts are great and the coordinators can do their jobs. I have no confidence in Andy
"

If you are looking for good things about Reid, don't ask Eagles fans. This town grew to hate him for the most part.

Your a ****ing genious dude.

Your objections are duly noted. Exactly what was your pick for HC?

I find it incredibly difficult to believe people in Philadelphia would be angry about something.

And who dare said that Philadelphia fans weren't sweet, compassionate fans who care for the well-being of their fellow man? Complete gentlemen imo.

ChiefMojo 01-03-2013 11:32 PM

Well Andy Reid is a major upgrade for us going back to probably Grandpa Dick. Yes the Eagle fans do sound like us when at the end of Marty's reign. My guess is in about five years they wish they had Reid back or at least appreciate his years a lot better.

We have been stuck with Herm, Haley and RAC... it has been very tough here in KC.

jaa1025 01-03-2013 11:32 PM

Eagles fans feel the same way that Chiefs fans felt about Marty. After a few years they will be kicking themselves like a lot of chiefs fans did.

L.A. Chieffan 01-03-2013 11:33 PM
