I just read on Ferentz' profile on the Iowa Hawkeyes website that he was the offensive line coach and assistant head coach with the Ravens/Browns. Not sure what the assistant head coach position included but perhaps he's already had a taste of the responsibilities of a head coach in the NFL. It also said he was the offensive line coach and defensive coordinator at the Worcester Academy back in the 70's (wherever the hell that is). Granted it's at a lower level but at least we know he should have a well rounded knowledge of both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball, something that I don't believe can be said for Herm Edwards.
I was originally pretty down on the idea of Ferentz as head coach but I think i'm warming up to him a little bit. He's not my favorite guy out there but I'm going to trust our new GM to make a good hire. |

There is a large group of people who have been clamoring for Pioli. But there's a minority of people who would like to see Clark Hunt look in a different direction. ChiefsCountry, Warpath and I, for instance, have talked about Eric DeCosta since Carl "resigned" (though I believe Warpath joined us a litte after). I'm not going to whine and cry if it's Pioli. He just isn't my first choice. |

This. And FTR, I've DeCosta's been on my radar since he was named the youngest (at the time) Director of College Scouting in the NFL, back in 2003. I had a hunch even then that he'd eventually get his shot - Newsome and Co. do a phenomenal job up there, and NFL teams notice and steal them, like Savage and TJ McCreight. |

Parcells' disciples have faired better as coaches than those of Belicheck. It would be nice if he and Parcells had a long chat over xmas dinner about coaching possibilities should Pioli take the GM position.
