They have a St. Louis Cardinals Hall of Fame like the Chiefs do with the Ring of Honor. Mixes Cardinal players like Larry Wilson, Dan Dierdorf, Jackie Smith etc. along with Rams players.

Dude has been in a death spiral over the last couple of weeks. Slug now just barely above his OBP, which is known in the league as Hosmering.

Also the Brewers honor the Milwaukee Braves at their stadium as well. They have a statue and give away Hank Aaron Braves stuff. That is the closest situation to what happened in Kansas City. Also the Mariners honor the Seattle Pilots. Its not that uncommon really for teams to have days to honor the old teams that moved away.

If we are going by recent history, just keep in mind Berry's triple slash line in AAA (Toledo) this year: .168/.278/.234

Berry is not one of our top five outfielders currently. Sad, but true.

The Kansas City Royals today claimed outfielder Quintin Berry on waivers from the Detroit Tigers and immediately optioned him to Triple-A Omaha. Berry, 28, is a left-handed hitter who spent a large part of last season on the Detroit roster, hitting .258 in 94 games (75-for-291) with 44 runs scored, 10 doubles, six triples, two home runs and 29 RBI. The speedster also swiped 21 bases without being caught. A fifth round pick of the Phillies in 2006 out of San Diego State, Berry has also been in the San Diego, New York Mets and Cincinnati organizations prior to joining the Tigers. He has hit .168 in 49 games for Toledo (AAA) in the Tigers' chain this year with 15 stolen bases and only two caught stealing.

Seems like Dyson redux. I suppose it could mean Dyson's ankle is worse than originally expected and he might miss another month. Otherwise, I'm not sure how much it impacts the ML roster, as both Dyson and Berry are LH batters. It's not like you would drop Frenchy and platoon Berry, especially with Lough also a lefty.

Maybe he's just AAA filler to replace Paulo Orlando.

With the Berry signing I see a Frenchy release coming.

The Atlanta Braves never kept the Milwaukee Brewers from getting to the AL Championship for seven straight years. Big difference.

And the Brewers are actually the old Seattle Pilots. Again, they're in a different league from the Mariners now.

Oakland and KC don't like each other. At all, in any way, shape or form.
We should keep it that way.

The Royals AAA and AA look like the Forbidden Zone in "Planet of the Apes":

Frenchy will not be DFA'ed until all the "Frenchy Quarter" T-shirts are given out. And the Royals own promotional schedule lists "Frenchy Quarter" nights all the way into September...

So it does not bode well.

Yes, David Glass would keep a .222 hitter in the starting lineup over some T-Shirts.

By listing C Salvy Perez in tonight's lineup, #Royals must make a space-clearing roster move.

gblowfish 06-04-2013 02:28 PM

They'll send that catcher behind Kottaras down to Omaha.

A sane person would think: 1) Dyson's about to come back; 2) Frenchy will be DFA'd; 3) Lough will stay up as the 4th OF; 4) Berry replaces Lough in AAA.

But the Royals aren't sane.

I would assume Moore goes down.
