Writes itself almost.

The redemption arc that will follow writes itself as well and will be a great way to send Cena off.

BTW all the stuff people are finding that either directly or possibly hinted at this that was hidden in plain sight is ****ing bonkers.

I’m excited to see Cena work as a heel again.

He’s reached that Hogan or Flair status where you know all his greatest hits and how they’re set up. You’re just kinda waiting for the shoulder tackles that lead to the slam for the 5 knuckle shuffle. Then an STF attempt that get reversed. Then an AA that gets countered into a move that gets countered into another AA.

It’ll be fresh to see him do some of these same things but almost sarcastically like how the Rock used to work right around WM 19 as Hollywood Rock.

Then, the pop will be absolutely insane when Cena hits the 5 knuckle shuffle on his redemption arc for the first time.

Should be good stuff.

After watching the off the air promo Rhea did. I think the loss was a good thing for her character. She spent the last year being the unbeatable invincible super woman but that was pretty one note and was getting stale.

FWIW

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer revealed that Cody Rhodes sustained a burst eardrum and a black eye following the incident with Travis Scott, saying, “Cody got hurt…I’m pretty sure it was Travis Scott that did it…I heard he had a busted eardrum and a black eye.”

Man, who could've seen that coming? A celebrity getting absolutely wasted on whatever he's smoking and drinking in the corner didn't need to get physical with talent.

I think he needs to pay the price in the form of spear like that KSI guy got.

He going to get his receipt soon enough.

Interesting. Meltzer reporting that Rock actually did plan for Cody to be the heel corporate champion, HHH thought the idea sucked but was overruled by Rock and Nick Khan, so folks convinced Cody to refuse again. Then they pivoted to Cena.

GloucesterChief 03-04-2025 05:01 PM

Cody is going to turn heel eventually but it should be against Orton.

I think it’s Punk vs Rollins vs Roman to main event Night 1.

That could be a good one.

Oh it’s happening

The build for this Mania compared to last year is damn near night and day. What a lackluster card, and WWE seem content to shoot themselves in the foot over and over and over again with bad PR decisions.

Kinda unfair to compare to last year though. That was an all timer. 39 was the same way.

This is a much more normal Mania. They normally have 3-4 things to look forward to with a bunch thrown in.

I’m looking forward to:
Roman, Seth, and Punk
Cena and Cody
Rhea

LA Knight and Jacob Fatu, Logan Paul and AJ, and Rey and Gable should all be entertaining.

The rest is kinda meh unless something crazy goes off script with Stratton and Charlotte.

Sassy Squatch 04-19-2025 09:42 AM

I'll be a bit shocked if Rey can go. Looked like he couldn't even put weight on his leg and it wasn't a work.

smithandrew051 04-19-2025 09:45 AM

Did Gable and Otis ever actually go anywhere? Or did the Wyatt Sicks just kill whatever was going to happen there when they murdered Gable on TV that time?

If Rey can’t go, I’d think Otis would be the obvious replacement right?

Also, curious who Randy Orton ends up wrestling. Solo isn’t booked. Maybe him?

May just be me, but both the Main Events I really couldn't give less of a shit about. They've done a pretty bad job building both for differ reasons. The triple threat would've been much better off as a single between any of the two and the odd man out goes off to do something else and the Cena/Cody build has been so convoluted and nonsensical that it's just tanked my interest.

I thought I was the only one who thought this WM seemed too contrived and poorly marketed.....

Want to have Cena really be heat? Have him beat down Cody Rhodes a couple of times....not just have Rhodes outsell him on the mic and then get 2 CrossRhodes....everyone knows that Cena is going to win and set up some super heated mic work after he does...

The Triple Threat matches seem just too silly....Rhea/Skyy/Belair set up is almost as bad as Punk/Reigns/Rollins. Would have preferred Sky & Belair with a Rhea run in after Skyy beats Belair.....and would have preferred to see Rollins & Punk with Paul in his corner with Roman running in when Punk wins to knock him out.

Logan Paul and AJ Styles? Meh....

Gunther and Jey Uso.....that's just a regular Monday Night Raw match...

Jade Cargill and Naomi....that angle was just silly from the start....the whole "broke my heart" explanation for Naomi's heel turn was sad to watch

LA Knight and Jacob Fatu....has some possibilities but neither can really wrestle and making Fatu the "unbreakable" demon has been silly.

Tag Team matches for both the men and women.....neither do anything for me.

4 Man IC match....has potential but I am betting that WWE figures out an ending that just makes no sense at all. Now....if Dominic turns on Balor...now that would make that match interesting.

Priest/McIntyre....that match just seems to be pinned to the card to give a oversold McIntyre a reason to have a foe.

I am sure some will not agree with me but nothing about this WM makes me want to pay to renew Peacock to watch it.
