Chris Jones, what is best in life? To crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their fans Travis Kelce, what is best in life? ITS SCORING TOUCHDOWNS AND BANGING POP STARS AND IM ROLLIN |

The guys who called George a low ceiling pick are getting a crow burrito.
Tamba Karlaftis is gonna be special and he’s already showing it. |
Damn fine game tonight. Got his hands on lots of balls. LOL
|
What a pick this was. Mc Duffie too. What a draft
|
He's good
|
|
He’s fighting through doubles and still being very disruptive.
What are OLs going to do for the rest of the year when they have to also account for Omenihu? I think George will benefit from Charles being out there more than sone think. The guard that’s been doubling him will need to account for Charles now. |
He played a much better game last night than he did in Minnesota

Makes sense. I was really disappointed in the defensive line on the whole last week. |

i'd bet anything spags is keeping a lot of powder dry with our cake schedule
he has more live bullets to fire in the postseason now than ever before gonna be FUN to watch |
Tied for 10th all time in most sacks among players who were under 23 years old. He's still just a kid and hasn't hit his prime.
He's gonna be a blue chipper real soon. Great draft pick |
Double digit sacks at just 22 years old.
This guy isn't getting enough love/attention. |

Yeah 10 sacks and counting is damn sure worth crowing about, if FAU can get on the same trajectory we are SET for a while
|
LMAO Too bad Skyy Moore has been such a damper on that class, because Veach seems to have hit home runs at multiple spots.

I do the same with the 2013 draft. Kelce at 1.1 and Fishee in the 3rd makes that an incredible draft. |

You can't hit them all. |

Told me he loves KC and wants to be a Chief his entire career.
I wish this were MLB and we could lock him up for the next 8 years at something reasonable. |
George!

George has more sacks than Hutchinson this year. :)

Final conclusion:
Burt Varch did nice. |
Doesn't hurt to have a guy used to cold-weather games while playing at Purdue.

Time we talk about what a grown man performance George turned in for the Super Bowl.
Got in on a sack of Purdy, got a huge tone setting fumble recovery on the first drive (among 3 Niners) and constantly held his position against the run throughout the game. What a ****ing sendoff to a stellar season for George. |

I wasn't a fan of the pick but he's already exceeded my expectations. I thought he'd be a 5-7 sack a year guy who wouldn't be able to bully NFL tackles like he did in college. Well, I was wrong... |

George had a damn fine game yesterday. Didn't rack up much for stats, but he was all over the field causing the offense issues. He was key in many defensive stops regardless of getting stats for it.
|
Just popping in to say it feels like George has been quiet this year, or perhaps I'm not watching close enough.
Has he had a drop off in pressures? Is it scheme? The opponents so far? Too lazy to look it up so I figured I'd crowdsource it here. |

He's been quiet but pretty solid. I think it depends on your expectations.
I've never thought Karlaftis will be a reliable 10+ sacks a year guy, or a guy who repeatedly and consistently wins and applies pressure. He's just not an athlete with a real calling card. Not quick, not super strong, not particularly bendy. He wins by being relentless. The expectation imo is he becomes super reliable against the run and becomes a solid but not elite threat as a rusher. That'll be fine |
Chris Jones often moves up or down the DL to get a better matchup to rush the passer. It can work great for Chris getting more pressures, but might be taking away from others like Karlaftis. They seem to get along great though, so if it's not bothering him, it's not bothering me.
|
He's been solid but yeah I don't think he'll reach the 12+ sacks I thought he could get before the season started. A poster on Reddit posted about how his lack of 1 on 1 moves limits his numbers. Think that might be showing.
But all in all he's still great against the run and very solid against the pass. Works out perfectly for our defense. |
Dude has 21 pressures and 8 QB hits. He’s been all over the QB, just not getting home. He’s doing just fine and I think the sacks will come.
|
even if he isn't getting sacks, he's still a valuable player. He plays the game well overall. He has a lot of pressures I think.
He also has one great ability, availability. Has the guy missed 1 start yet? |
Saw a red 56 jersey in the stands watching the Purdue game
|
Probably waiting for a real purdy one
|
Thought that was his best game of the year.
|

He caused the interception in the end zone too, right? |
Yep, Furious George showed out today
|
yup he had a very nice game
|
Made a couple nice plays today.
Sack and a key batted pass. |
He played like he wanted to win.
|
Five sacks so far. If he gets another three or four then it's another solid regular season imo.
|
George Karlaftis slander will no longer be tolerated in GDTs. Post responsibly.

Karlaftis gets way too much hate. He just can't be your best edge rusher, but he's a fantastic complement to a guy like Omenihu.
|
George is a good left end, he is an asset to the defense. He plays smart, is good against the run and gets pressures and some sacks. No need to hate on him at all. He's like an old school left end.
|
I don't hate him, I just think he has been overrated by some. Maybe it's swinging too much the other way now. The problem with our DEs is they can't generate quick and consistent pressure, and I think Karlaftis has kinda become the embodiment of that. He's a hustler who gives full effort, he just doesn't have a real elite characteristic.
But we're crying out for speed from the edge. |
I do like Furious George, he's a great player and an awesome dude too..
|
Quote:
Spags isnt. He has a true speed rusher on the roster now and seems content letting Chris Jones tell him to play Nose. If Uche can't even get himself activated on gameday, Spags simply doesn't give a shit about speed rushers. He's wrong, IMO, but it is what it is. |
If all players on the team made the most of their physical ability like George, we’d have very few complaints.
|
George is fantastic within the system. Unfortunately for a large part of this year the rest of the line has not been great. The last few weeks with Ohminihu back the lines had better rush integrity and hits showing up across the board.
