Could not recommend God of War Ragnarok highly enough. It outdoes the first game in this iteration in almost every way, and that is a ridiculously high bar to cross.

ToxSocks 11-22-2022 12:53 PM

If anyone is looking for a PS5, Walmart has them right now, online only. I just bought one for the kid's xmas, should be here Friday. The God of War Ragnarok bundle.

Sassy Squatch 11-22-2022 02:08 PM

They've been in stock for over 24 hours now. Legit shocked they've lasted this long.

A lot of people don't have the money to just drop 700 dollars, inflation is kicking a lot of peoples asses.

I signed up for the Walmart+ thing and bought mine 2 days ago after striking out on receiving an invitation from Amazon twice now. I had to make sure i got one, couldn't **** this up as it's my only xmas job this year haha.

They had some as low as $459. Got mine for $559.

That bundle at Walmart is 559 dollars, it will come out around 700 after tax.

LMAO Where the **** are you buying shit at that tax is that high? It cost me 602.10 exact the last time I bought a bundle, and that was 549.99

ToxSocks 11-22-2022 04:05 PM

IIRC, mine was just a few dollars over $600 after tax (cali).

It seems like most available bundles out there are well north of $700 though. Just depends on what you can find.

I just platinum trophied (100%) it this morning and I could not agree more. I really took my time listening to every Mimir story, lore quip and doing every side story/mission. There's even quite a few post game interactions you can observe. It's so good I'm actually a little sad that I'm done. Hopefully we get NG+ in a future patch like we did with GOW 2018.

One small thing is that the end game optional bosses weren't nearly as challenging as the ones from GoW 2018.

10/10 game.

The gank Berserker boss was the hardest of both games. Whoever the reerun is that thought a FromSoft style fight would work on this game needs thrown out of the industry. Unfairly difficult in all the wrong ways.

Also, pretty minor nitpick, but they got way too ambitious with the customization this time around and didn't really explain the changes all that well. It was just fine in the first Norse game, didn't need that kind of overhaul.

I gotta check it out again after my daughters finish with or get bored with Genshin Impact. We only have one PS5 (for now or at least until they become more readily available). I was able to snag the Dawn of Ragnarök DLC for half off yesterday.

I'm glad you're enjoying it.. and you feel like that because you have truly barely touched the surface lol

I gave up on completing all of the side quests and didn't even bother with the Valhalla ending and I still put like 80 hours into that game.

I found it to be an absolute slog. Completing all of the storylines in each region became more of a chore than anything after the third or fourth, though I did enjoy the one with the young guy (Coelbert or something..?) and a couple others.

I did like male Eivor's voice as well.

I was planning on knocking out Miles Morales' Spider-Man and the Horizon Zero Dawn before getting God of War when it hits like $20-30 but I'm thinking I can't wait.

Spoiler!

It was a real bitch for me to find one. Took like 3 weeks once I committed to finding one. Ridiculous.

I don't know if I'll get tired of it. I actually like the grind. I love the side quests and I've finished 4 regional story arcs. They were all great.

Sassy Squatch 11-23-2022 11:22 AM

Well, whoever spoiled that was actually wrong in some form. Also not really a big deal since they're established as two of the main antagonists very very early

Think the most shocking thing about the game is who's set up as the next potential antagonist

IMO, Sigrún was ridiculously hard and unforgiving.

The customization seemed to be for accessibility more so than for adding unnecessary bells and whistles. The auto pick up and hold "x" over spam "x" com was a nice touch.

Sassy Squatch 11-23-2022 08:08 PM

I'm not talking about the final Berserker. I'm talking about the one in the Alfheim desert that has you fighting three at the same time. You can legit be playing at 100% optimum efficiency with perfect dodges and still get killed if the RNG isn't on your side.

Otter 11-25-2022 02:19 AM

I was looking at this earlier and if done right could be amazing. I'm also not sure what to think of it yet but if they can put it all together and the gameplay is tight we could have something.

I always thought the opening 'movie' for the original L4D should be expanded upon/extended. That was probably the coolest intro I've ever seen.

The Callisto Protocol looks absolutely amazing and the atmosphere is pretty insane. But apparently the gameplay is pretty seriously flawed. The reviews have all been pretty rough. I'm about an hour and a half through the walkthrough. It's a melee heavy game, but the melee system is really inconsistent and clunky. The shooting weapons are scarce and very limited in ammo. You die very frequently. Boss battles are apparently very Elden Ring like. Apparently it's only about 20hrs long at best.

That's a good one.

You should check out Dead Island's intro if you've never seen it and enjoy zombie stuff. That one is kind of sad though.

Yeah, that's what I was hoping for. But this is definitely not Dead Space.

After watching a good portion of the walkthrough, I'm afraid I'm gonna pass on this. Looks gorgeous, but the fighting mechanics are awful, and it gets pretty repetitive.

It's one of those games I would probably rather watch on YT, definitely interesting and very different from just about any other game. It's not really the type of game I usually play as I'm not into the jump scare thing but more fun to watch someone else.

WhawhaWhat 12-03-2022 02:15 PM

I've been playing Gotham Knights. It's like the Arkham Knight series but you play as the sidekicks instead of Batman. Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl and Red Mask. Each of the characters have their own special traits and abilities.

Still learning but it's pretty good. You have to go out on night patrol and beat up and interrogate bad guys doing small level crimes to get clues regarding the larger main story.

Almost pulled the trigger on it's 40% off sale, they just added a ton to the endgame but still it needs tweaked since you can only get Legendary gear the first time through. Almost there and I might pick it up if it gets discounted on the winter sale here in a few weeks. Combat is super fun as I tried it already.

Sassy Squatch 12-03-2022 06:40 PM

Yep, heard that Callisto Protocol game has some incredibly bad flaws. Just watching some folks play it and the frame rate drop would pretty much kill any interest for me. Totally immersion breaking and that's pretty much the point of survival horror.

If you go upstairs at the hideout place, there's a Spyhunter arcade cabinet and you can actually play the game if you want.

the only games I'm interested in with any idea when they will release are:

Skull & Bones. This is a hard-maybe, hopefully get to try out a beta to see if I like it first. But I like the idea of it.

Diablo 4. Obviously going to play that, I won't be able to resist.

What am I off on? it's a live service game that is entirely PVEP? If you're a guy that likes single player you won't like this. I've been fighting this fight ever since Division 1 launched which at the time was pretty much forced PVP. They eventually went back because the coop and solo players rebelled and in Division 2 it's 90% non raid PVE coop/solo friendly stuff.

They certainly make really stupid business decisions but I absolutely love the gameplay loop in Division. Ya I'm a sucker I suppose but nothing really replaces it. Far Cry is fun too(Even though the hitboxes are crap) and I really liked the last Watch Dogs even tho Ubi did it's usual putting out a great base with so much potential only to get abandoned after they took their initial cash and ran.

It's live service, in what way do you mean? An endgame that lasts longer than a week or two before quitting?

If D4 sucks or end game isn't interesting, there will be POE2 probably soon after D4 releases. Path of Exile is my all time favorite game, still play it. New league started today on PC and you can tell the league mechanic was inspired by Hades and other rogue like's.

they haven't said yet, people are expecting a few months after D4 probably.

I've been playing a nice Diablo 2 clone. its called Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor - Martyr: Prophecy. it plays just like D2 and the graphics are pretty nice for a 4 year old game. but its very dark. the inquisitor classes are similar to D2 also. Crusaders are sword and board tanks or heavy weapons specialists. Assassins are akin to Amazons. Tech priests are the summoner class, they teleport tech constructs into battle. the Psyker is the offensive caster and is pretty badass. the psykers manipulate the warp and if they do it too much, they become corrupted by the chaos. you might end up summoning nurglings if you get carried away.

I must say the voice-acting, dialogue, lore and overall story are all very well done. its much better than the average ARPG

they just released a new DLC with a Sororitas class.

I looked at this when it first launched and passed on it because most warhammer games were not my style. I might check it out, is the loot as good as D2? That kind of thing would sway my opinion one way or another.

Yikes it looks like it has like 30 dlc's, what are each DLC?

Fishpicker 12-10-2022 08:15 AM

So... its actually two games; the original wh40k: inquisitor: martyr and the newer and improved wh40k: inquisitor: prophesy. most of the DLCs are minor things like mission sets, new visuals. I haven't purchased any of those and I won't. the Sororitas DLC is a new class and will have a different campaign than the other classes.

I'd recommend holding off until one of the seasonal sales to buy this. if you bought the 2 games and the sororitas DLC now, it would run you North of $80. I bought the 2 games bundled during the summer sale and got it for $18.

the loot is comparable to D2 in that it is tiered. you can find socketed items and further enchant them with shards/crystals (gems) or you can install imperial psalms/psalm codes (ruins/ruin sets). the game is loot centric like diablo. sounds great but it can be pretty tedious going through all the loot and looking at 3 to 10 stat enhancements on each little thing. theres plenty of room in inventory, though. and you can put loot in your storage bin and move it to a different character. this game feels like the designers intentionally set out to make the wh40k version of D2 and keep it as close to D2 as possible.

oh and you can put a custom paint job on every weapon and every armor.

no procedural generation though. so the re-playability will be a touch lesser.

Any strategy players out there? Picked up age of wonders planet fall on Xbox sale. Seems decent from what little I've played so far. Also got sudden strike 4 but haven't played it yet.

I own Planetfall but it never really pulled me in.

Is anyone revisiting Conan Exiles with the Age of Sorcery Chapter 2 drop?

I've been playing it with the Age of Calamitous mod since it adds much more to the game.

I hope the creators were able to maintain the same spirit and energy that made "Sex With Hitler 1" such a joy to play.

Hammock Parties 12-20-2022 01:32 PM
