I can't watch it again, but I think they failed to show the smoker... That's BBQ ad fail IMO. And no, a cutting board doesn't cut it!

I have some 21 day dry aged prime rib eyes hitting the grill tonight topped with some truffle butter. I have some Iberico cuts for appetizers and a bottle of Duckhorn Cab.

Will do that next time. Making more Sunday. This was a trial run, and if I made more I would have eaten them all.

But boudin is not a pretty dish...

Soups, stews, chilis, roasts, braises, casseroles... I've made cobblers and even bread in mine.

You can use it for all kinds of things.

I think I'm gonna try to put together a chili in mine. Never had a dutch oven before.

My grandma gave me my grandpa's cast iron dutch oven at Christmas. Also a well-seasoned 8" pan.

Grandma rocks.

Grandmas are pretty awesome. My best cast iron came from her when she passed.

Enameled or no? If it's not enameled, you'll want to be careful what you put in there for a long time. Anything acidic over more than 30 minutes or so will start to leach iron and taste funny. If it's enameled, you're good to go for whatever.

The 8-inch pan is a little small for most jobs, but it's good for a ton of things, especially smaller jobs like bacon or a couple hamburgers or chicken thighs. Try cornbread in it sometime.

Anyone have a decent recipe for a quick pizza sauce (something you've made and can vouch for)? Or a really good canned version?

You can always tweak it how you like it. I usually add more garlic, I'm a big garlic fan as you could tell from that steak I made awhile back ago.

I am taking a much more aggressive stand on my caloric intake. Last two weeks have been oatmeal in the morning, salads for lunch, and small portions of lean protein and veggies for dinner.

Not tonight. Tonight it's porterhouse steak, stuffed scallops, and a baked potato. Pictures to come...Not as fast as me tho!

It was OK. A little over cooked.

IIRC, I cooked that shortly after I upgraded grates on my Weber to include the cast iron insert. That grate sprees more heat and cooks significantly faster than the old stainless steel. I over cooked a number of things before I figured it out.

Tonight is shepherds pie, its nothing fancy but damned if it doesnt please every single time... ground beef, beef base paste, peas, carrots, onions, garlic all topped with extra stiff mashed potatoes and baked for a good solid hour at around 375.

I'll be eating it for atleast the next two days.

It's my favorite thing to eat that's not Indian.

Wait, what? Is this going to hurt?

Seriously, I didn't even show the two steaks that didn't fit in the pan, there were only three eating (one being a woman, the other being a 10-year-old, and there's always the pooch who happens to love steak! The college son is off, well, doing something young couples do!!!), so ya gotta get creative with eight steaks! So tomorrow some will go into soup, and some other time I'm thinking fajitas. The neighbor said he'd shovel my driveway (with his snow-thrower [which he does anyway!!] whenever we finally get any ****ing snow) if I'd feed him some GloryDayz fajitas...

IDK, I kind of like it. We have a few snow-throwers on the block, so I love snow days when all the guys and kids get out there and clear all the driveways.

And one of the neighbors now HAS A PLOW FOR THE FRONT OF HIS 4-WHEELER. DA ****?!?!?!?!?! We already have one guy who pushes snow, so our streets are always brined/salted and cleared before the city even thinks about it (!!!!), but these snow-throwers (with heated ****ing handles!) and the mini-plow are going to make snow days too easy and no workout at all!

Now that is an epic pooping room. Not sure that is in the budget.

Sorry for derailing the thread with talk of pooping rooms. Here's a picture of a steak in a cast iron skillet to make up for it.

When you poop it, you'll know it's worth the pricy paper!

That's exactly like my shower and a lot like my bathroom—minus the dark wood and not as large. Similiar shape though.

Other differences which make it better imo, there's an oversized window where that wall is and a small sliding-glass door next to it where that towel rack is in the photo. Both the window and the glass door over look a tropical garden with rubber plants and a hibiscus tree. So there's even more glass. Shape and look of the shower are identical. Light colors in tile as you see here. For privacy there's a solid fence around the garden. So the fence and the tropical plants shield me from the outside, while feeling like I am outside.

I got the wife this for Christmas but I plan to use it too. What do you guys use Dutch Ovens for?

I have one. I have Le Crueset brand and it's warm red. I use it to make rice, soups, stews. They're really great. I love mine. That's a terrific gift for the wife.
Check out Martha Stewart's website she uses one, so she may have more uses. She also has a whole new education section on cutting techniques and more for free.

Can I just say I prefer my Lodge to my Le Creuset?

Made some jalapeño poppers yesterday (goat cheese and shrimp stuffed), wrapped in bacon for an appetizer.

Tri tip for the entrée. It turned out quite tasty.

Yes you can. You mean a fry pan though right? I have a Lodge too but a fry pan. I don't use that for rice, stews or soups.
