Self is a good coach but he's not evolving. More and more coaches have embraced analytically sound coaching. Self just won't hear it. So you play vs waaay more teams than ever before that are playing smarter.

Beat Duke (the best team in the country imo), outplayed ISU for large stretches on the road, and had Baylor down 20 in their building.

There's only a handful of teams even capable of playing at that level. They just don't sustain it.

Destroyed is a strong word. We're still a top 10ish team even right now with some of the most talent in NCAA. Most programs would kill to have a team/season like this.

NIL has balanced the playing field a ton now, though. It's why a bunch of coaches of Self's vintage have already quit and it may be why he ultimately bows out soon as well.

We go in as a 6-8 seed, we could lose in the first round.
