Best way to make sure Mahomes succeeds. Add a premier WR talent.

A wise move by the Bengals. They really ****ed up when they let Whitworth go.

I get that, but I just don't think the Giants are going to firesale OBJ. Will they listen to offers? Sure, but I think it takes a good return to make it happen.

I'd imagine a 2nd would be the best they could get, due to the team that trades for him wanting to have a deal done as well.

He only has 1 year left on his rookie deal and is gonna need a massive deal.

Titty Meat 03-12-2018 02:29 PM

Imagine waiting 20 years to make the playoffs your team scores 6 points then rebuilds the next year.

Btw they wouldnt have to do all this if they just drafted Mahomes. Very weird organization.

They can keep him for one more year on the cheap and still fetch at least a 2nd next year once the weed shit blows over.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Vikings have "reached out" to free agent Drew Brees.

Brees' situation is becoming more fluid. There's been almost zero belief he could actually leave New Orleans, but we are less than 48 hours from the start of free agency and there's seemingly been zero movement in talks. It makes all the sense in the world for Brees to at least feign interest in other teams as he negotiates with the Saints. It also makes sense for the Vikings, who could be trying to leverage Kirk Cousins.

Because OBJ as a headcase isnt in any way comparable to Peters as a headcase. Which coach has he tried to fight?

With the move today the Bills could move past the Browns and Broncos to have their pick of QB after the Giants for both firsts and a 3.

That's what we paid for Mahomes. The Bills made a nice move today.

Seems expensive no doubt. But again, it it’s 3 years that means you could be out of it after 2019 if you need to be.

Doubt it’s real.

Antonio Brown is getting $17 million a year so unless Veach is a total moron, Watkins shouldn’t be getting $16 million. Hope we get Watkins, but at a much lower price

pugsnotdrugs19 03-12-2018 03:06 PM

The offense has little money committed to it right now by most standards. The WR group makes peanuts. I won’t be surprised if that deal is real.

By the time Mahomes and Reek need paid, it’ll be over with.

Free agency. That’s what it does. All it takes is a few teams interested and the price is going up, and by the sounds of it Watkins has a hot market.

Yes, both sides did well in that deal.

Bengals got better protection for ginger and can still add to the Defense in the first round. Bills in position to get Rosen or Darnold.

Sassy Squatch 03-12-2018 03:10 PM

Unless the contract is riddled with incentives, 3/48 Is ****ing dumb

TambaBerry 03-12-2018 03:10 PM

I'd rather pay Robinson 16 million then Watkins. If we seriously use all of our cap on Watkins I will laugh my ass off

BryanBusby 03-12-2018 03:12 PM

That would be a John Dorsey move.

O.city 03-12-2018 03:14 PM

Depends what the guarantee'd money is.

I bet Watkins is who they end up signing though.

Mecca 03-12-2018 03:15 PM

Watkins is probably a 10-12 a year guy but truthfully in this offense with Mahomes he probably puts up a stupid season that makes everyone love him.

O.city 03-12-2018 03:16 PM

Especially if he's got multiple teams bidding for him.

Mother****erJones 03-12-2018 03:17 PM

BleedingRed 03-12-2018 03:19 PM

Watkins would be amazing, but I honestly don't want to drop money on WR's.

That being said, maybe they know the defense isn't going to be shit for 1-2 years so they think they are going to have to win shoot outs

O.city 03-12-2018 03:21 PM

They've got or can get to around 30 mil in cap space.

That's plenty to sign a big free agent and some mid tier guys

You gotta figure that we really have around $20. You're going to want $5 million for draft picks and another $5 million to have just in case.

Mecca 03-12-2018 03:23 PM

You draft CB's, FA CB's are far to expensive to sign and wanting to blow a load on a big fat guy over a playermaker doesn't make sense to me.

Spend money on the WR, draft some defense look for a middle tier NT.

That’s great in theory but the bottom line is you are almost certain to overpay at whatever position it is. Personally, I’d rather overpay a young potentially great player like Watkins than to overpay for an ok corner or DL because that’s all that’s really out there.

Wow the Browns don’t have a single one of their own 1st round picks on their team from 2009-today.

Mecca 03-12-2018 03:28 PM

This team will not find a WR in this draft that makes an impact this year...you have to pick and choose. I'll take a 24 year old FA that is explosive and draft the other spots.

Depending on the source, they have around $28-30M available right now.

That includes $16M in dead money that will be off the books next year.

They are in good shape now and in GREAT shape starting in 2019 - so they can structure things in a way to afford to do pretty much anything they want this year.

They can, I hate putting money into later years as that can just end up being dead money then.

But, with a cheap QB they need to not waste these 4 years. They've already lost 1.

They don't have to completely backload is my point - just get past this year if they really want to spend now.

And I agree - the time is now.

RunKC 03-12-2018 03:34 PM

Seems like the market for ILB is about $7m AVV for a good one, I'd be okay with Watkins/Robinson/Richardson as long as it leaves space for a good ILB.

I agree about the NT comments earlier, either get a vet min as your NT (like Diall) or try and get Daquon Jones to play all 3 downs.

This is why I’m not going to be shocked if that Watkins rumor is real. Not saying it is, but it wouldn’t surprise me at all.

This team’s cap situation looking ahead is really good honestly, they aren’t going to be pinching pennies if they want Watkins that bad.
