I am in Accounting and have a son afflicted with Autism.....I will address both issues from my POV.

First off, I agree with you about the whole accounting being wonky. It just seemed that they brought in someone to draw mathematical conclusions on the board and shot the film around it. I'm like you in that the time allotted to coming to that conclusion, even with a "beautiful mind" behind it just seemed out of touch.

Second......again from my POV....is that I have a hard time, knowing the whole issue with sensitivities that most with Asperger's/Autism have , he could/would handle all that he had done so untouched.

Now having said that, I enjoyed the movie. I set aside my real life understanding of the character's nature and enjoyed it for the entertainment it was.

Has anyone gone to see Wind River yet? It's rare that Rotten Tomatoes scores from both the critics and the audience are over 90% simultaneously....

Yeah. Wind River was really really good. Saw it in theaters awhile back and enjoyed the hell out of it (might even be my favorite film of the year next to Dunkirk & Logan) . Jeremy Renner was badass in it. Highly recommend checking it out

I HATED this movie. I get all the religious symbolism but the story itself is awful and really goes off the rails in the last third.

I was just about to post that.

You watching DeFranco?

ThaVirus 09-21-2017 06:17 PM

Watched First Blood the other night.

I thought it was pretty good. I had no idea it'd be Rambo vs Smalltown police force. And definitely not in America. I guess I just always assumed he'd be in Borneo or something fighting foreigners.

Anyway, should I watch any more of them? When is it no longer worth watching?

They get progressively shittier. But still absolutely worth finishing the series.

I saw last night and was steeled to absolutely hate the experience. I thought DA got the creepy mood of things being just off right. Third act didn't bother me given the story it was telling. Was better than I expected though I'm not sure if that was because I wasn't expecting anything or not...

American Assassin got unfairly beat up by critics imo. This film was solid and Keaton was once again flat out awesome . The lead could have been more intimidating and older (looked like one of those One Direction/boy band mofos ) but thats just a minor complaint. Overall, I dug it and it entertained me for 2 hours.

Keaton did great in the picture and no question about it, like someone else mentioned the CIA black ops recruit that played Mitch Rapp just didn't do it for audiences I think they should've chosen more of a name to do that role.

Maybe someone like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, he's has recognition without breaking the bank I suppose.

Glad you dug it . I really enjoyed it as well and would probably give it a similar rating. It did feel quite different from the most recent DC disasters that had little to no humor in them. Glad WW didn't totally take itself seriously . And Chris Pine was great in it too.

Seconded. It was much better than I expected.

We had a screening of Thank You For Your Service last night as well as a Q&A session with SSG Schuman, the main character, and the writer/director (also wrote American Sniper). Very depressing, eye-opening movie about the profession I’m about to join. Their goal is to help open communication between civilians and veterans about the mental issues they face.

I watched Assasins Creed while I was working in the office.

Mother
of
God

That movie was total garbage. I admit I haven’t played the games but Christ other than some action (which was over the top) and special effects there was nothing redeeming about the shitfest. Normally Fassbender does his thing despite writing but I literally had no idea what they were trying to convey at any given moment with his performance. And he’s the only one that showed anything at all.

So, so bad.

Yeah I couldn't even finish Assassin's Creed lol. Turned it off after 30 minutes.

Really looking forward to Three Billboards Outside Ebbing , Missouri . Reviews have been praising it as one of the best films of the year and I really dig the director (In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths)

We saw Coco today.

For my money, it’s the best film I’ve seen all year (by a wide margin) and definitely Top Three Pixar film.

Maybe the best Pixar film yet.

'Hamas' Jenkins 11-25-2017 02:46 PM

I know I'm three years late to this one, but I was off this week, and in between cleaning and prepping for Thanksgiving, I bought Fury from Amazon for eight bucks. I had heard good, but not great, things about it, but after watching it twice, I think it's one of the more underrated war movies I've ever seen. There were some obvious tropes (new soldier thrown into a grizzled unit, war-weary commander, incompetent junior officers), but the dynamic of the crew was amazing. It even made me like Shia LeBouf for a few hours.

McAvoy is simply incredible, this role might well be the best male acting of the last 10 years
