If Reid is granted the power to tell Pioli to STFD/STFU King Carl style then Pioli stays around for as long as it takes to buy him out of the contract, at which time it would be financially beneficial to do so. Because I think it's pretty clear that when your powers are essentially stripped away, why even have the position?

1. They have already stated that they are not interested in him. 2. Their focus on hiring a GM first, and who's to say that they will want Reid. 3. Reid having a home in SD and coaching in the AFC west is a hell of a lot better than coaching in the NFC East. 4. He can call the shots in KC and make a pile of cash. SD is a pretty cheap franchise. 5. Bowe + Charles + 1st Pick = a soft landing for the big man. |
