See, now you're trolling your own thread. A legitimate question was asked.

Of course he's not going...there might be some thugs hanging around.

Not even close. I've never had a single issue with anyone. Never even had a trespasser. New neighbors are wonderful.

I've delivered mail downtown and walked past people being arrested on the street, in front of fences topped with chicken wire. Never seen that once here..

Hell, most people don't even have bars on their windows here. There are much worse parts of town for sure.

I had my zoom call on my appeal with Jackson County Assessment on Friday. I had a proxy, an old friend of mine who worked for James B Nutter for decades, and is a major real estate broker in KC now. He did me a solid by representing me. He got my assessment lowered from 89% increase to 16%. I can deal with that, and he saved me a LOT of money. I was lucky.

Has Independence decided on whether they're going to join the lawsuit? Pretty sure they were supposed to decide that at some point today.

Why are people saying the appeals process isn't easy and/or fair?

Or are they just shouting at clouds and not answering the question honestly?

Based on the small sample size of this thread, seems like the appeals has been the redeeming part of the whole mess.

I'm not personally affected, but from what I understand folks are constantly getting the runaround to even be heard. And the deadline is July 31st. For example, they cancelled all in person appeals and tried to do them over Zoom. Those were apparently cancelled as well.
