I don't get this at all....What do you mean they don't have the money? Every team has to be like around what 90% of the salary cap each year. NFL is not MLB!

Giving out $50M+ to a QB is something EVERY Owner/Team can do and it just means that they can not pay other players as much.

I mean what am I missing? Small market teams have to spend as much as large market teams and large market teams can't spend anymore than small market teams

please someone explain why owners "Can't afford" to pay QBs big time money?

Because you have to set aside all money you've guaranteed into an escrow for the player. Now, let's say by the time Burrow comes up he and his agent are asking for about 300 million fully guaranteed, for 6 seasons. Mike Brown has a net worth of 900 million. See the issue?
