Interesting look at why the Browns giving Watson all that guaranteed money pissed off the other owners.

Several ownership-level sources believe that Chargers owner Dean Spanos would have a difficult time stroking a check covering what could be the $250M-$275M in guarantees required to secure Herbert's rights for the long term. "I'm not sure that's something Dean could do under these circumstances even if he really wanted to," one ownership source said. Several others suggested that if they had to handicap the situation, Bengals owner Mike Brown would exhaust the franchise tags with Burrow – taking him through 2026 and his age 30 season – and draft a replacement along the way.

Could see this coming from a mile away.

Dean Spanos and Mike Brown don’t have the $$$ to give a similar fully guaranteed contract to Herbert/Burrow…. could be future trouble for them.

ROFL Browns just out here ****ing over every franchise that has their QB on a rookie deal. You love to see it.

Rich owners licking their chops

Mike Brown isn't even worth a billion. Legit would have to put around a third of his net wealth into escrow to give Burrow what will be the new market value.

Yet another reason to be uber thankful for Mahomes contract.

Locking him up when we did, as long as we did, and for that price AND Mahomes and his agents being willing to 'play ball' for the best interests of the team going forward.

This contract will be the gift that keeps on giving years and years ahead . . . . . .

They've proven that if the team does their homework and due diligence they should be able to get the quality guys in those middle rounds. Veach has shown that he can find those players but he has also had some whiffs with Speaks and Tanoh, but no one is going to be 100%.

The way Veach and the front office have been drafting lately, I trust them. Whether they trade up, down or stay put I think they will have a good plan in place.

KPass was in Dorsey’s last class.

Says we are actively trying to get a deal done for Bradberry. Comp is late rounder or swap of mid rounders.

I’m wondering if this is really an update….

Seems about right. They're desperate for the cap space.

Does it say whether the Giants are picking up any of that contract or are we going to be responsible for the entire $13 mil. cap hit?
