I'm more a KU football fan than basketball so if KU were basically to write off football for bball then I'd be pissed. But if the MWC can get a BCS bid then that changes everything. I just want good teams to play. The MWC in BBall is nothing. It's football is good for KU. They can challenge for titles and get back to BCS games hopefully. ala the Big East |

We did have the greatest NFL running back of all time go to our school. He made some of us fans. Well not me, I wasn't around... |
One thing that I hope comes from all of this:
Kansas fans love to point out how "irrelevant" and "insignificant" Missouri is. That's fine. We may not be able to boast about our Final Four appearances and (flukey) Orange Bowl selections. Sure. But we could very easily leave your asses behind for good (along with Nebraska). Where would that leave you????? Kinda scary, isn't it? Maybe you're not as infallible and mighty as you thought. Maybe Missouri isn't as lowly and insignificant as you thought. Maybe. Just maybe. If the Big XII stays together... you'll appreciate and respect your neighbors to east a little bit more. |

It's just that I've been on this board for 10 years, and I've NEVER ONCE heard a KU fan say they preferred football to basketball before. |

The smug ****ers will just feel emboldened. You think they're intolerable now, you ain't seen nothing yet. If this thing falls through, Beakers will reach a level of douchebaggery occupied only by Massholes and Cubs fans. |

Even at KU football games they yell "Home of the Chiefs!" I would figured some of them would be on this board. Kansas basketball is just too frustrating for me sometimes. Although I'm a fan I feel the team has too many years where the potential is far from fulfilled. I should probably appreciate the Conference Championships more but I weigh so much on the end of year tourney that it kills that there's been so many early exits in recent years. |

Things like this move quickly in the real world. Once it's all over things will adapt fast. If separated KU will start concentrating on winning the MWC and MU will try and figure out how they will ever defeat OSU, Notre Dame, and Penn State. |

The call to Mizzou was just to be polite. (If it did indeed happen) Mizzou leaving has nothing to do with the Big 12 collapsing. I think that's become very clear. |

ROFL Serious question, does MU have any NFL hall of famers? KU has 3. |

Did Nebraska jumping in help it reach critical mass? Of course. But we lit the fuse. Who knows if Nebraska would have done anything on its own? |

KU fans should be humbled because Missouri is the only DI school in its state and is closer to St. Louis? KU fans should respect Missouri more because the shared KU/KSU/MU space around KC isn't as valuable as St. Louis? If the locations were flipped, the Big 10 would be interested in Kansas. Missouri will be no more or less significant tomorrow if it goes to the Big 10. Yeah, the scary part is that Kansas could be less significant tomorrow, but that has nothing to do with appreciating Missouri. If Missouri and only Missouri leaves, the Big 12 might not collapse. Even if it does, it has nothing to do with Missouri's significance or Missouri's power, outside of potential televisions tuned into the BTN. Along with the "fluky BB NC" post and others, maybe it's a few of you who should be getting over yourselves. |

If the Big XII doesn't disband, the north will be dominated by Missouri and Nebraska for a long time. Missouri is going to blow past Kansas in football for the over the next decade, beginning this year. |

Obviously, by "we" I meant Missouri. There was obviously contact between Missouri and the Big 10 at some level long before Nebraska entered the picture. Do I know what that contact was? Of course not. Neither do you. Was that clear enough for you, dumbass? |

I love how the MU fans feel that MU football "has arrived". Yes, you are better now then you have been in a long time and I give you props. But you're no better than KU. And if KU does end up in the MWC playing with teams like Boise St., TCU, and Utah something tells me they will have no trouble playing MU year in and year out with equal talent levels... Seriously, if this does happen, good luck. No one seems to be talking about ISU's place in all of this. |
This Big 12 commish we get tarred and feathered now. Most likely the remaining 4 go where they can. I hope they don't try to get a new 8 to join as i don't think they could draw the right teams. Plus the conference would need a new commish and Carl Peterson is looking for a job and is buddies with Perkins.

Big rebound last year in FB hiring Paul RHoades. Chizdick brought in excitement and money to the program but thankfully Auburn did ISU a favor there. Rhoades may not ever be great but last year was a big turn around and he has the exp at Pitt and Auburn as a DC that helps recruiting and made a good hire in Bearnum as his DC from S. Fla. and the young kid from Rice as OC. Mens BB is obviously in shambles and rebuilding w/ Fred Hoiberg. He kept his best recruiter TJ Otzelburger who held on to all the good recuits. The scuttlebutt is former UNC Charlotte HC Bobby Lutz will join the staff too so that will be huge for a guy in Hoibergs shoes and hardly no exp. They ponied up to keep a VB coach and Bill Fennelly as WBB coach stays but those types of coaches take a hike if they join a conference that doesn't generate the money to pay them. Not to mention recruiting. Sign of the times i guess. Can't say this has shit to do with student athletes. ISU is always a top 10 Engineering/Ag school but doesn't draw the TV market or prestige thats for sure. I still have porn though. |

Just from a football standpoint, would it really be that horrible for Iowa State to go to a smaller conference? I'm not trying to be a dick here, but generally you guys get nuked by pretty much everybody every year. Wouldn't it be better to play in a conference where you're competitive?
If college sports were fair, there would be a Super Conference for programs like Texas, Florida, USC, etc. and the one who sucks the peniss would just play each other and leave the rest of us alone. God, I'd love that. Seriously, what business does a school with a $150 million sports budget have playing in the same conference with a school that has a $40 million sports budget? Yeah, that's fair. :shake: |
