I am thinking Veach thought he could get the likes of Lotulelei, Jensen and even Watkins for rather cheap but man, those guys signed huge contracts.

They will probably look to draft an OL who can play both guard and center

In case of an injury, they can make an easy switch, plug and play

I'm not going to be surprised at all if our first pick at #54 is a LG if there's a top one there.

Jensen was probably viewed as a backup plan in case they were unable to sign Watkins and Hitchens. JMO.

There are some real studs who might be available there for that position but I really hope not. At this point we need the defensive help too much.

I’d love to see them take a G in the 4th or 6th that can develop like they did with other interior linemen previously.

I think there are 3 positions right now that could use an immediate starter.

1. S
2. DE
3. LG

If there's a top safety there at #54....then I could see them drafting one. How many 3-4 DE's start their first year right away? At least ones that aren't drafted in the 1st round. Chris Jones? I'd have to go back and look to see how many snaps he took right away in Week 1. Even if they draft a CB at #54....I don't see them starting right away with Fuller, Amerson and Nelson there. People may hate Amerson but they signed him to a 1 year deal....he's playing a lot this year barring an injury.

If Veach contacted McCartney within 10 minutes of the opening of the legal tampering period, it was because he wanted to get a deal done, plain and simple.

From my perspective, it appears that the Chiefs were looking for a long term solution at center, someone who could grow with Mahomes and be there for the next four + years.

It's pretty clear that they not only felt that Fulton wasn't that guy but that they're not trusting Morse to be that guy, either.

You don't jump into a 4 year deal worth $40 million or more on a whim.

ShowtimeSBMVP 03-19-2018 12:27 PM

#Redskins and Orlando Scandrick have agreed to a 2-year deal worth a max value of $10M, source said. From Dallas to a rival.

ShowtimeSBMVP 03-19-2018 12:32 PM

Via Ralph Vacchiano of SNY, Bridgewater’s one-year deal includes only $500,000 guaranteed, via his signing bonus. Bridgewater’s $5 million base salary is non-guaranteed. The deal also includes $9 million in incentives.

So, basically, the Jets have paid $500,000 now in exchange for the ability to evaluate Bridgewater throughout the offseason program, training camp, and the preseason before deciding whether to keep him on the active roster when the regular season begins, and the $5 million becomes at that point as a practical matter fully guaranteed.

Same deal essentially as DAT.

Terez speculated that he may not even be ready to start the season and the Chiefs signed him so that they could control his rehab process.

No, it most certainly is not the #1 need.

Eric Murray and Daniel Sorensen suck ass.

There's zero CB depth.

A great safety to go along with Berry is far more important than a 2 down NT.
