Other than 1 season with Cam Newton, none of the above schools have been appreciably better than Mizzou over the last decade, and Mizzou has beaten 2 of them in bowl games (SC and Ark) while owning one of them (aTm) in conference play.

There are 3 dominant teams in the SEC as opposed to 2 dominant teams in the Big XII. Mizzou will be fine.

We don't have any room for logic in here boy. Mizzou probably won't even have a football program by 2015 after not scoring a point during four years of SEC play.

I agree with you. I think Mizzou will have some struggles, but playing with big boys is the only way to get to the next level.

He is somewhat bothered that he might have to do SEC coverage.

You really are in denial....the Kansas side of KC is all KU.

The only KU fans in KCMO are the interlopers that somehow escaped across the river.

hence the clarifying question

was it really that tough?

Where's that KC Star post from a few pages back? Wasn't KU fans % a good double digit higher than MU's?

I'm not saying this to rub anything in. Just figuring that KK would see no reason to discuss the SEC if MU were to go there.

During basketball season part of KCMO roots for KU, but during football season it isn't even close.

mnchiefsguy 10-04-2011 05:02 PM

KK has completely lost it. Saying the SEC is nothing but a bunch of cheaters and Mizzou should be careful with what they might be getting into. He is serious denial.

Mr. Plow 10-04-2011 05:02 PM

God damnit. I just want a simple "Yes, we are looking at other conferences" or "No, we are committed to the Big 12 and it's impending doom".....and I'm a ****ing KU fan damnit.

If KK ignores Mizzou and the SEC, he will be off the air in a couple of years. Can't not talk about Mizzou and expect to survive. Even 610, the official KU station, talks about Mizzou.

Although some outlets will still obviously talk MU you will have to admit that the focus in the KC area will still be with the Big 12.

The SEC is so completely foreign in geography and culture that I can't really see Petro breaking down Auburn-Ole Miss in anticipation of next weeks matchup with Mizzou.

KK won't talk about them simply out of spite.

That's just my opinion though.

If Auburn-Ole Miss effects Mizzou in the stands, or if they are all fighting for a bowl spot, then hell yes Soren better be breaking it down. Tiger fans will expect it. If WHB just wants to broadcast in Leawood and Overland Park, that is fine, but expect their listener ship to plummet.

Hell if I know. I would think that if they were staying in the BIG XII, that the meeting would have been shorter, since there is less to debate.

CoMoChief 10-04-2011 05:12 PM

If it's been this long, he's working out a deal to move the school to a new place. There would be more to work out, more things to discuss and so on...

If MU was staying.....it wouldn't last this long. JMO

I take it as they can't get to an agreement either way so they are still debating it. But it could also mean that they found a kick ass free porn site and they are just wasting time.

duncan_idaho 10-04-2011 05:13 PM

KC is a KU town during college basketball season. It wins the "t-shirt" fan battle because it is the program that has had the most success.

There are more MU football fans in KC than KU football fans.

There are more "t-shirt" Mizzou football fans than "t-shirt" KU football fans, but because KU basketball is an elite program, it has more casual fans than Missouri football.

A school that has fewer than 40k fans show up for its homecoming game shouldn't be saying s*it about owning a market that is a mere 40 minutes away.

Missouri owns the KC market during the season conferences care about.
