Would they lose money? Most likely they would. But you're talking about door sales to a show that houses 15,000 people. Most of the money comes from the millions of PPV buys.

You don't go in with a gameplan against one fighter, scrap everything and fight a top fighter in the world on virtually no notice when a title belt and endorsement deals are on the line.

At this level, if you're not prepared, not only do you lose, you get knocked the **** out. Bones' camp is 100000% right in this case. There's nothing wrong w/ Bones looking out for himself.

Yeah it can be done. But there are only so many fighters that can headline an event and none were on this card. You seriously believe he didn't try everything in his power to find ANYONE with draw to fill in? For the first time there was NOBODY to fill in, injuries are a part of it. Doesn't make Dana some moron or incompetent, he doesn't control injuries. Your fix is to "Put somebody else in" which, again, is completely stupid.

He already has endorsement deals, he doesn't "Win" them, so again your wrong. I do see where Jones is coming from, but his camp is not 10000% right at all. You are the champ and should defend your belt against anybody that steps up. Only declined because he swore he wouldnt let Sonnen "talk" his way to title and his ego got in the way. Virtually everyone in the UFC has weighed in on this on twitter or some other way and the overwhelming majority is "I would of taken the fight", so you are in the minority for your stance.

To the game plan part, that is the most over-rated part of this. Listen to top level guys or girls even (see Ronda Rousey) who say they don't even use gameplans because you never know how the opponent is going to attack you. They train their aspects, work on some strengths of opponent. Its not like Chael is some complex fighter either, he is a wrestler, you don't think Jones would have been working on his wrestling? Totally asinine to use "gameplan" as an excuse. Many, many UFC fighters have taken fights on short notice and won.

ArrowheadHawk 09-22-2012 08:21 PM

UFC 152 is on. First fight was impressive by Swanson. Should be a good card.

aj jones 09-22-2012 09:06 PM

Anyone got a stream?

Sorry it's late. Main event has yet to start though.

aj jones 09-22-2012 10:13 PM

Thx for some reason it says I can't wach it on my smartphone

ArrowheadHawk 09-22-2012 10:42 PM

Jones finishes him with a submission. Dude is 25 years old and might already be the best.

aj jones 09-22-2012 10:46 PM

Bones will destroy sonnen if they fight.

Pants 09-22-2012 10:47 PM

I don't understand how Jones' arm didn't break there. Pretty good card, this one.

He said his arm is numb. That's probably a way worse sign than pain, lol.

I will say I am more excited to see Aldo/Edgar fight than Aldo/Koch. I cant explain why?

Because Edgar is a bigger name and more talented in more areas that Koch.

Anyone care enought to get this weekends fights? I love MMA but I am not at all excited by this card.

Anyone got a link to stream the fights tonight?

TrickyNicky 10-13-2012 08:04 PM

I wouldn't have a problem paying $30 for this, but $55 for a card without a title fight is too much.

There is, literally, a million of Brazilians fighting on this card. Last fight was between 2 Brazillians. :D

That's cool.

This is my 1st time ever rooting for Anderson Silva, feels really weird.

Buck 10-13-2012 10:22 PM

I'd rather see Silva vs. GSP to be honest.

That fight was batting practice. Bonnar hasnt even been a top 20 LHW fighter for years. Clearly to save the ppv.

It's a more even fight than Jones. Jones is going to beat all comers.

BigCatDaddy 10-13-2012 11:17 PM

On one hand that fight should never headline free card let alone a PPV, but it's cool to see Dana get Stephen get a nice pay day before he retires. He did a lot for the sport.

It would be interesting to see who wins, but I think the fight itself would have very little action. Both guys would be very hesistant to engage with the other. I think Bones probably gets a hold of Silva and stops him with ground and pound in the later rounds if I had to pick a winner. I'd say odds are close to even money going in as to where Silva would be a significant favorite over GSP.

I think Silva wins that fight but not in a walk through. He has another level that other fighters almost never get to but Jones is close.

Honestly if he's dropping weight to fight a 170lber (and I'll probably get torched for this) I think Silva v Nick Diaz is a better fight than Silva v GSP.

So you think a guy who's style is to stand in front of his opponent go toe to toe and slug it out has a better shot than a master technician with incredible take downs like GSP? Nobody is going to beat Silva on their feet. You have to use the Sonnen blue print of pressuring him, dragging his ass down, holding him there and inflecting damage.

I would rather watch Anderson box Nick.

Anderson will beat GSP badly if they ever fight.

BigCatDaddy 10-17-2012 10:21 AM

Seriously? Jones vs Sonnen. Shouldn't he at least beat a top 10 LHW before getting a title shot?

It's all about ppv buys. Sonnen sells.

Sorter 10-25-2012 09:33 PM

Quinton turned down TUF w/ Sonnen, so they used Jones. Meh.

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:15 PM

10-9 GSP round 1

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:15 PM

Georges starting to find hs range. Carlos with a good straight left to teh body.

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:16 PM

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:20 PM

Carlos looks pretty pissed. GSP looks relaxed. Firas speaking french to him, to fast for me to even try to translate whilst typing.

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:21 PM

Carlos misses with a wheel kick

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:21 PM

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:23 PM

Carlos looking a little gassed. Georges still trying to recover in Carlos's guard.

TheGuardian 11-17-2012 11:24 PM

CRAP!!!!!! Totally forgot GSP was fighting!!!!!!!

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:25 PM

Carlos tries a standing kimura and fails, GSP in full guard.

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:25 PM

40 sec left in teh round. probably 10-9 Carlos.

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:25 PM

Georges passes to half

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:26 PM

Rogan thinks this round is tough to score, I don't. Carlos dropped GSP with a headkick and nearly finished him. So far:

R1: 10-9 GSP
R2: 10-9 GSP
R3: 10-9 Condit

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:27 PM

GSP with a large hematoma above the right eye via Carlos's headkick

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:28 PM

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:30 PM

Too much blood and GSP slips out. Lands a couple lefts coming back into Carlos's guard.

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:31 PM

Reversal by Carlos!!!

Sorter 11-17-2012 11:31 PM

Reversal by Georges, finishes a double.
