You absolutely can go wrong overdrafting either of those OL.

Well yes, not all as first rd picks. Collectively speaking throughout.

Can't believe we've only drafted 2 Ohio State kids in the past 34 years. 2009 Donald Washington 4th rd and 1991 Bobby Olive 11th rd. Not a Buckeyes fan but Ohio State is an elite program were not exactly talkin Hamrick Truck Driving School here.

I did not know that. That's an odd fact.

Derrick Harmon, DT, Oregon

I'm becoming more and more stridently pro-Luther.

But Harmon would be great as well.

And his 'injury flag' doesn't appear to be long-term. Might need surgery on his shoulder. Okay, but that seems like something that may slow his progress, not smother it in the crib.

But man, I really want Burden.

Just posted this in the draft forum.

We trade an All-Pro OG for a 4th round pick NEXT season just so we can take an OG in the 1st round?

Lord that would be stupid.

"We need to fix the O-Line!"

Meanwhile everyone was complaining about the OL last season even when Thuney was at OG along the same 3 guys to his right. OG doesn't move the needle even a little bit.

Booker would be an awful pick. It wouldn't be arguably worse than Simmons because there's NO ceiling to that pick at all. At least Simmons has a very small chance of coming back to form and being a long-term answer at a position that's hard to fill.

This guy's just gonna be...a guard. To replace the guy who's a fringe HoFer we already HAD at guard.

Just dumb.

I don't know who is vehemently against taking Conerly but the facts surrounding Simmons' injury are irrefutable. Guys don't come back from a torn patella. It just doesn't happen.

O.city 04-24-2025 08:07 AM

Conerly does seem to fit what they like at T and or look for there.

I wouldn't hate it.

O.city 04-24-2025 08:09 AM

I think I'd like a weapon, but man, the DT/DE class is so good there's just gonna be a good player there for the taking.

I'm late to the game, but what am I supposed to not like about Shemar if he is there?

I agree that it happens in the trenches, just which side of the ball.

PHOG 04-24-2025 08:12 AM

If Conerly is gone (he will be, but he's the pick), then go for either WR (Egbuka or Burden) if they're there, if not, then take Hendersen I guess (if there).

If this all has already been taken, then take BPA after all (defensive fatties).

Excluding any trades up or down.

This is going to be a fun night.

Beepee Aye - T, Port Chester University

But seriously, I’m guessing OT or DT.

DJ's left nut 04-24-2025 08:22 AM

Here's my 'Final' mock.

Obviously so much of this depends on who's actually available, but based on several efforts, I took guys who I think are USUALLY going to be there for us where I took them. There were some picks I thought were just too unlikely to be there that I could've made, but I like the realism and ultimate outcome of this one.

Yeah, this idea that the Simmons and Conerly are a monolith just reeks of ignorance as to the issues people actually have with Simmons.

I can't think of anyone that hates the idea of Simmons who also hates the idea of Conerly. I don't like the idea of trading UP for Conerly at all, but if he was the pick at 31 - I'd be fine with that.

Not my preferred course, but understandable and there's a very clear path to it being a major win as early as next season.

duncan_idaho 04-24-2025 08:35 AM

Personal order of preference:

1. Emeka Egbuka (won’t be there, too safe, too many teams love him)
2. Luther Burden III (could be there, ceiling is through the roof, top 10 pick type upside)
3. Derrick Harmon (great fit, love his skill set, injury concern is not a long-term problem)
4. Josh Conerly (good fit for system, long-term play, can focus on building strength this year)
5. Trade back a bit if possible
