Interesting idea to draft older rookies rather than young so you get their prime years while still on the rookie deal.

Veach doesn't typically do that, though. He usually looks for pretty young players.

But on the 3rd day, he appears to just look for guys that can contribute and do so quickly. So we seem to have some 3rd day picks that are older rookies.

I doubt it has anything to do with getting 'prime seasons' on their rookie deals - it's probably just that older rookies are devalued a bit so you can get better quality ones later in the draft and then pump and dump them.

The vibes are just so unbelievably damn high entering this postseason run. It really feels inevitable. The only thing slightly off is Rice being out, and we were fortunate it happened early on so we could bring Hopkins in.

Rice bangs the drum for the AFCCG.

Opposing QB completion percentage against KC drops from 67% to 60% when
Jaylen Watson is on the field.

Chiefs are going to murder whoever they face in the Divisional round. Book it.

He's on a 7th rounders contract.

Talk to him, sure. But if he takes anything less than what Ward got, he'd be silly.

We still have him under contract next season so he'd still be mitigating a little risk by signing early, but ultimately he just looks for all the world like he's another solid, healthy season away from a $50 million deal.

Now the other thing for US to consider is that he, like Sneed, is a little overaged as a prospect. He was 24 as a rookie so he's maybe not the best gamble long-term as his extension wouldn't even kick in until 28.

Cuts both ways -- does he really want to test the FA market as a 28 year old CB expecting to get a 3-4 year deal? Or would he rather sign early, lock in say $33 million and potentially leave a little money on the table?

It would be nice if he saw Sneed’s situation and figured winning was worth the $10M-$20M he’d be leaving on the table but you can’t fault anyone for taking that kind of bag. Would be great to keep him but if we believed we could bring in new blood it’s probably best for all parties to not overpay him (especially when we know they’re going to resign McDuffie).

That 2022 draft is just turning out insanely good and it’s that kind of drafting that wins Championships.

That’s spectacular.

Hey guys, first time / long time… a quick question: Are Andy Reid teams good after a bye?

I’ll listen off air, thanks

You know, it wasn't that long ago that the NFL wouldn't allow a player to return from IR. Then they finally agreed to allow 2 per team. Now, we've had what? 4-5 return? This makes so much sense. I can't believe that it took the NFL so long to come around to making this possible. Of course, I'm sure that all of the Chiefs haters are wishing that we were still playing under the old rules at this point.

The next step should be allowing 60-man rosters on gameday.

There's still a limit, 8 IR returns in a season, 10 if you make the playoffs.

I think teams should be able to play every healthy player on their roster in the SB... having players not even dress is weird to me.

Hammock Parties 01-04-2025 12:34 AM

The defense is playing at such a high level right now, with Watson coming back and Steven Nelson helping out, I feel like it will be easy mode for the offense in the playoffs.

24 points a game gets the threepeat.

My only worry is a key roleplayer getting hurt in Denver. Leo Chenal is probably going to play a ton of snaps in this game.

If Rice didn't get hurt, it would just give another reason to complain about the Chiefs because he isn't on death row
