If you aren't thinking forward, you will be going backwards.

Who cares if he has his eyes to be the Browns HC. I don't blame him one bit.

Why isn't his upside high? He's an accurate thrower with a nice strong arm and seems to be pretty smart.

When you watch his college tape, and even that first preseason game, most of his “highlights” come with great protection. When he’s pressured, he struggles and doesn’t look like the same guy. Kind of reminds me of Carr in that regard, who I also think has limited upside.

Which QB doesn't struggle when pressured?

That's not bad.

Realistically I doubt he ever gets to that point because Brees and Romo were legit, but he's off to a good start.

Obviously they all do, but when it’s night and day, that’s concerning. Most QB’s also don’t have great projection week in and week out. Mayfield either has great protection and he looks good, or he’s being pressured and he looks like a completely different guy.

Do you not see the difference in a guy like Carr vs. Brees under pressure?

Sure, but Brees is a hall of famer against the blitz. If that's the standard we're having, well, most people are gonna struggle.

I don't know if that's something you can improve on though is the problem. Maybe an experience thing.

Yea that’s all I’m really saying. I just don’t know how fixable that is, and it would the difference in a Tier 1/Tier 2 QB.

Tier 2 is still a huge ****ing win for Cleveland.

staylor26 08-21-2018 11:33 AM

Just to expand on that, like I said most of Mayfield’s success comes with great protection which we know he’s not going to get early on aim Cleveland.

How does he deal with the adversity of playing behind a below average OL week in and week out?

His personality scares me a little when thinking about that.

Legit tier one guys are hall of fame type guys. I don’t think you ever go in expecting that. Especially in Cleveland at this point.

Hell if he’s alex smith that’s a huge win

He's definitely going to be better than Alex Smith. But I doubt as good as Brees. Whose the comp inbetween those two? That's him. Romo seems about right I guess.

No doubt, and I’m not so sure he’ll even be a tier 2 QB. I’m just saying that’s where his ceiling is at best IMO.

His play under pressure has always been touted as one of his biggest strengths.
