they only "finish" the whiskey in port barrels, i think for 2 additional years. it gives a little different sweetness and oak character. i'm not a fan of the 1792 expressions, but the port finished version was pretty good.

Angels Envy is also finished in port barrels....it's a unique finish to a bourbon.

It is also no longer a bourbon.

Interesting...when did this change? You have a link, I'm sure.

edit:

I went to angelsenvy.com and they still call it "Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey finished in Port Wine Barrels"...

Bourbon just means that a certain percentage of the mash is corn.

Do you drink that stuff straight?

We bought some Crown Honey and I love it in lemonade, Crown Maple too. Great summer drinks to sip while in the pool.

I'm at the point I drink everything straight. I'll sip something to chase after it once it's hit my palate. Unless it's substandard shit just designed to get me drunk. Then I chase it with cola.

I'm drinking Jim and coke, I guess it's drinkable by itself but I'd rather drink better stuff if I'm drinking it straight.

Buffalo Trace is very good with a cube of ice in it...

There is actually more to it than just that -

It's even better without the ice. :)

Bourbon needs a little water to open it up...but I do agree, it's very good neat as well.

I was being charitable...it's not how I like a bourbon to finish on my palate, but I found it different.

The first time I tried it I was smoking a cigar at the time. I thought it was delicious. Then the cigar finished and I took another drink and about spit it out.

No idea how that stuff is as popular as it is.
