OTC projects about $50M right now for 2019, not including Henne’s deal. They add in the projected rise to the league cap, and that doesn’t include the few million we may be able to roll over.

Hitchens and Fuller. That’s it. And we lost our biggest/best turnover creator. No more Berry/Houston excuses. Start drafting for their replacements as they haven’t been dependable. Yes FA costs money, but you need to spend some to solidify things. The DL/pass rush was a joke last season. Attack it.

Sammy Watkins better be a 1000 yard, 8 td receiver....

Reasonably good players will be cut during camp to make way for hotshot rookies... all is not lost

They’ll make more moves to impact that 50MM....but even better.

Ehh.

Watkins was the #1 rated guy on their FA board. I can appreciate going and getting the guy who you believe can be the biggest difference maker.

Let’s just pretend for a second that they didn’t sign Watkins. Who are you going to give contracts to that can make the same or greater impact than he potentially can?

If they had given Lotulelei his $10M per year or gave Malcolm Butler or Trumaine Johnson their $13-15M per year, that’s a far worse option in my opinion.

Ok, here’s the thing:

Poe - $9million 3 years.
Lotulelei - $10 million 5 years
Richardson - $11 million 1 year
Pricey corners

Hankins gets released from a three year $27 million dollar deal. He is years younger than the aforementioned, outproduced them, and is a scheme fit. These are supposedly guys we want to build around. To a lesser degree Tre Boston is a 25 year old ascending player that also is a scheme fit at a position of need.

Maybe visits or leaks of negotiations materialize, but apart from the encouraging signings of Hitchens and Watkins, it is odd to maybe not hear more about “the plan”’ Veach has alluded to since the Combine. Entering the draft with less capital than usual, the Chiefs would be wise to solidify the defense as best as possible with these type of young players entering their prime. Give yourself true opportunities to go BPA, as is too often mentioned by personnel types....

Exactly

Veach has proven that if there is s player he wants, that he will go & get them.

Ummm.

Camp cuts usually aren’t guys you build around. Depth.
Younger and faster usually isn’t available in the summer.

KChiefs1 03-17-2018 06:29 PM

What free agents still left meet the qualifications of 25 or younger?

And I also forgot to add the players each team is adding through trades...everyone here (myself included) is pining after dudes who have been cut from their respective teams

The Colts just cut Hankins, you wanna build around him Northman?... 'yeah duh, sign his ass up'

You see what I'm saying, one mans trash is another mans treasure

Any of those players would be helpful.

Ok, fair enough. Whether the reasoning of a scheme switch is legit or not you have to admit that a situation like Hankins is not the norm. His production warrants his pay, he does not have an injury history or major character concern and is still young. Fit and matchups have a lot to do with any team’s degree of success. I see a fit with Hankins, this have been bullish on him being courted by KC.
