I’ll admit I need to be more patient with this, but for a team that wants to change its defensive identity through personnel change, I’m wondering when/how this great plan is materializing. Hitchens and Fuller. That’s it. And we lost our biggest/best turnover creator. No more Berry/Houston excuses. Start drafting for their replacements as they haven’t been dependable. Yes FA costs money, but you need to spend some to solidify things. The DL/pass rush was a joke last season. Attack it.

Makes the decision to sign Watkins to a 16 million AAV contract highly questionable in my eyes. I was cool with it as long as we allocated the cap in a way we could still sign help at all 3 levels of the defense, but it seems like that train has left the station.

Everyone's in panic mode and we're a week into fa. Plenty of time for cap flex and signing. The d line markets so reeruned I wouldn't be suprised if we don't get one. And for all we know they're content with what they have at safety and guard.

If the Chiefs have someone targeted in FA still, they can make moves to clear any cap space they might need.

I am not sure that Veach has anything in mind, but I find it difficult to believe that he's done in free agency.

30-40MM in cap space next offseason. KC isn’t going through a re-build, but they are going through a youth movement. Veach/Reid are not interested in players 30+ and they aren’t interested in 1-year deals...making the pool of players they 1) want and 2) can afford this offseason fairly small. KC has a 3-4 year window to build a juggernaut while Mahomes is on his current deal. No reason to panic, over-pay, or step outside of that mindset.

The upcoming draft will be VERY crucial to the immediate success of this team over the next 3-4 years.
