GONNA BE A LONG GAME!

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 08:47 PM

Let’s go.

Imon Yourside 03-17-2022 08:47 PM

3 bricks, 2 turnovers

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 08:47 PM

Clank. Clank.

DJay23 03-17-2022 08:49 PM

Looks like these guys think they can run with us.

It's a bold strategy Cotton, lets see if it pays off for them.

KC_Connection 03-17-2022 08:50 PM

Well, everyone seems to be nervous as hell again after a reprieve during the B12 tournament. Braun and Wilson passing up wide open shots.

Imon Yourside 03-17-2022 08:50 PM

1st timeout we doubled their score!

2006 vs Bradley? I think that was the last time. We were a 4. Those were the baby Jayhawks who would win a National title 2 seasons later.

smithandrew051 03-17-2022 08:57 PM

Will we score again this half?

DJay23 03-17-2022 08:59 PM

I think a lot of people remember the Bucknell lost. I know they do here, I live 30 minutes from the Bucknell campus. That combined with not playing up to seed as often as we probably should.

There are people who probably think the losses to VCU, Northern Iowa, Wichita State, Stanford, etc were in the first round.

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 09:01 PM

Lots of swatting going on.

DJay23 03-17-2022 09:08 PM

What a pass. Healthy Remy is fun to watch!

KC_Connection 03-17-2022 09:08 PM

Can we leave Remy in

DJay23 03-17-2022 09:09 PM

Remy dunk!

smithandrew051 03-17-2022 09:09 PM

Remy can be for this team what Sherron was for ‘08

Martin got some ups

KC_Connection 03-17-2022 09:10 PM

Remy can be their Malik Newman. Self just has to not yell at him for a while and leave him in when he makes a mistake.

smithandrew051 03-17-2022 09:10 PM

Harris is actually playing pretty well too

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 09:11 PM

Martin and Harris shaping up nicely.

DanBecky 03-17-2022 09:11 PM

We’re gonna be alright my guys. Let’s pass Kentucky this tournament for all time wins.

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 09:13 PM

I like to see a healthy rotstion between Remy and Harris.

TambaBerry 03-17-2022 09:14 PM

The amount of timeouts jesus

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 09:15 PM

I’d like to back off the fouling a bit. Seems unnecessary at this point in the game.

smithandrew051 03-17-2022 09:18 PM

Remy looks like the best player of the tourney so far

arrowheadnation 03-17-2022 09:18 PM

Remy should be starting but I’m sure self won’t want to upset the Apple cart at this point in the season.

DJay23 03-17-2022 09:19 PM

Imagine if Remy had adjusted/stayed healthy all season. This Remy plus what we already had?

Lzen 03-17-2022 09:19 PM

Holy shit! That pass.

Remy is on another level right now

Imon Yourside 03-17-2022 09:19 PM

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 09:46 PM

Oh jeez. Never go full Reerun.

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 09:55 PM

We’re rocking a solid 25% from the charity stripe.

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 10:02 PM

We’re doing g great. We just need a few more fouls and they will be in the double bonus with 15 min left.

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 10:03 PM

That’s 5.

DJay23 03-17-2022 10:19 PM

All year long, refs almost never call fouls for Wilson. He takes a lot of body contact on his drives and gets very little.

KC_Connection 03-17-2022 10:23 PM

The bench lineup getting embarrassed again in this 2nd half. Are we really going to have to put the starters back in?

Reerun_KC 03-17-2022 10:23 PM

The answer is yes.

KC_Connection 03-17-2022 11:16 PM

On to R32 after an understandably casual 2nd half there.

Creighton is, of course, a serious threat. They are an elite defensive team (16th in adjusted defensive efficiency in the country). They hold teams to only 43.7% shooting from 2PT range (9th in country). They also give up just the 4th amount of FTs per FG in the country, so they effectively don't foul at all while defending very tightly.

Creighton also have long switchable wing type players all over the court (Hawkins, Kaluma, O'Connell) who are all over 6'6 and will make it difficult to get open shots and get good matchups in the half court.

The question will be whether Ryan Kalkbrenner (who is certainly their best defender, think Jeff Withey type) can play on Saturday. His knee injury did not look pretty. If he can't, Keyshawn Feazell, a senior and solid two-way big, will play much more than anticipated. In all likelihood, though, they will just go much smaller than they usually do which will force its own set of defensive problems for KU. One of KU's biggest issues this year has been when teams play five out and force McCormack to guard the perimeter (usually eventually taking him out of the game entirely). That may be what KU faces in this one.

Better be ready.

If we somehow rematches against Kansas fully healthy, I wouldn’t expect a blowout win, but I don’t see why the result would change in terms of who’d win.

Nope Kalks is done for the season.
Had he not been injured tonight.
This would have been a great game.
Creighton is now without its starting point guard and now it's best big man in decades.
KU will have the Jay's in foul trouble and will role in the second half if they don't role from the opening tip off?

Sucks. Healthy Jay's are a tough match up for anyone.
Probably the youngest team to make the tournament this year.
This isn't your Dad's Blue Jay's.
Next 4 years are gonna be awesome here in Omaha.
Tomorrow is just a learning curve. To be great. You have to play great programs.
Can't wait.

I've seen some fans say this, and while it sounds like a decent argument in theory, I just don't get it. We don't have anything important today, so plenty of time to go over some scouting. And the scouting report is likely very limited since a key component to their team is suddenly not playing. These are college athletes in their peak physical shape and will get two nights of rest. What is the big difference between playing at 6 instead of 2? Is 4 hours going to dramatically alter our recovery time? What exactly would we have used those 4 hours for that is so important?

Yes, they were clearly the better team. And while watching that game I said this team is going nowhere in the tourney this year. Of course, a lot has happened in the 1.5 months or whatever it's been since that game. KU looks way better now. And a big part of that is that Remy Martin is playing way better now that he's healthy. I don't know if KU will go very far this year but I feel much better about their chances than I did back in late January.

smithandrew051 03-18-2022 07:39 AM

My mindset is people aren't going to pull punches when Kansas loses, so it doesn't matter a ton if we rub it in a bit. If UK fan can't handle it, they should stay off the internet for a while, because it's going to be everywhere.

And 20 years ago when I'd get the inevitable texts after a Kansas loss from some douchebag Mizzou fan, I'd not so kindly tell them to **** off in that moment.... these days I can laugh at the idiot players for playing like shit and move on.

So really, we're doing fans a favor by rubbing it in... develop the calluses faster, **** feelings.

Excuse you friend, but there’s no “to be fair” with trolls who come into a team’s fan thread, talk shit, then disappear. He will come back and take his medicine I can promise that. If not, me and Pablo *will* hunt him down on another thread and execute him drive-by style. Like a Colombia drug hit.

We have skills. Skills that make us a nightmare for people like Rams . If you own it now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

Fair enough. I’m just not wired that way.

And maybe I’m the anomaly. A decade or so ago I got on the board of this organization, and hitched a ride with this dude who I’m guessing was 45 at the time and had a real nice visit with him. He was doing a lot of stuff that I wanted to do and I was picking his brain a bit. He had a masters degree in GIS and was running a good sized farm professionally. He was well spoken and really approached everything logically and level headed. Dude was a pro.

His dad was a professor at KSU and he went to KU, so he’s got a bit of a **** off streak, I’m sure he ate a bunch of shot for a couple decades attending KU. So the conversation switched to Mizzou and he was like, “Oh yeah after the Norfolk Game I got on the Mizzou boards and trolled those guys hard.” ROFL. What? You’re running several million dollars of farm and you’re hopping on to troll message boards?

Dude is still a pro and he’s probably 1 of 10 or 15 voices I will listen to without much scrutiny. No clue if he’s still trolling, but it was an odd departure.

So yeah, maybe I’m the anomaly. LOL.

Heh, I definitely don't go out of my way and haven't ever signed up on another board just to troll, but Rams is a straight up troll around these parts, so I wouldn't think twice about posting a great meme or a crying UK cheerleader, etc.

I mean, he's here all the time trolling and UK only loses to a 15 seed or loses an NIT game once every few years.
