He was a 12.5 year old Australian Cattle Dog. Went to work with me every day, he was my buddy. No matter the shit day I had he was always there to be happy and be my buddy. Never failed to make me feel better. He was getting cantankerous in his old age, but he was the best dog I've had by a wide margin. Just a phenomenal dog.

RIP Chief Dog. I miss my friend. :(

Man, so sorry this happened. It was an accident. Farm dog is a dangerous job. Hang in there. When you get past a bit, go to the local pound and find a mutt and give him a good life.

This guy is off cage confinement now and he's loving being a dog again. That being said, we're still a little careful with him. He's not allowed to play too rough with the other dogs and he is in a kennel when we're not home.

Found a VERY VERY loving kitten in the apartment parking lot last night. She wasn't chipped and nobody claimed her. I was hoping to keep her but I'm still not over my old buddy. I felt like a massive piece of shit giving her to the shelter today she did not want to leave my side.

My previous labs were 10 and 13 lbs respectively at 8 weeks old. They are around 70 and 75 lbs each. The new fella is eighteen lbs.

We went the snob route with this guy and searched for several breeders until we found one with conformation lines that I liked. I wouldn't trade my two boys for anything in the world, but lemme tell ya, this is going to be a gorgeous damn dog. His facial structure, his build, all of it is just significantly different from my 2 boys (or the foster puppy we had).

He cracks me the hell up. He's still not all that coordinated and he frustrates easily, but I get the idea he's going to be awfully easy to train.

Had to put this old boy down a few weeks back.

Was going 1,000 mph on Sunday - went down on Monday and couldn't get back up. Took him to the vet and they found a mass in his chest that was compressing his lungs and had spread. Even if they could've stabilized him (and that was a long-shot), there were no happy endings to be had.

Damn dog was so good natured that he'd probably been dying for months and it just never occurred to him to be sad about anything. Was as gregarious and playful as ever until the moment his muscles just couldn't get the oxygen they needed.

Damn he was a good dog. Dumb as a hammer but just the most good natured thing. And yeah - ended up just as pretty as we thought he would; a genuine show caliber lookin' dog. That bone structure and body type made him a damn ox. Even when he was older he'd toss the rotty across the room anytime the rot got playing too rough. And good luck to any person (or 4 people) who tried to trip his nails. Never knew a stranger though - just would NOT express any frustration or anger. Never saw him raise his lips and he only growled once in his life that I ever recalled.

Just loved his kids to death. Baby boy was awfully upset -- MacArthur was his first best buddy. And we took everyone in to see him and say goodbye. Palmer did a great job initially but I'll never forget seeing it hit him just as mom was getting ready to take them back home and I was going to stick around for the end. Hit the poor little guy like a truck all at once and he just melted into a sobbing puddle. Life can be tough at 4 - hard to see a life lesson register like that though.

Can't help but feel I got jobbed a bit on this one. The other labs made it to 14 and 15 respectfully and good ol' Mac didn't even make it to 12. But on the flipside, there's couldn't have been a better end for him really. In great shape until he was just...gone.

I don't really have many pictures of him on my phone; certainly none from his younger days. But I found this one on my computer and it really does capture who he was. Just the most comfortable, happy boy.

Bird Dog and Lola

Lola was born in April. Bird Dog is 12 now.

This picture was taken at McNally's. I asked my friend to watch the dogs while I ordered for us, and told Lola to be good and I was going throught that door (pointed at it) and that I would be right back. I then told Bird Dog to watch Lola and keep her out of trouble.

She texted me that picture while I was inside, Lola watching the door...Bird Dog watching Lola.

Miss ya black dog.

I'm so sorry, DJ.

Dogs are amazing creatures, man's best friend is truth...but there's something special about a black lab - they're the BEST dogs.

I feel you, so much. Bird Dog is 12 and I HAD to get Lola to learn from her, just in hopes that she's HALF as cool as Bird...because Bird is absolutely the best dog I've ever known.

I love my BBDs (big black dogs), and I am so sorry for your family's loss, brother.

Meet Scott, the one-eyed survivor of the Joplin tornado. He was found after the tornado on the street, at about 8 weeks old. His eye was severely infected, and though they tried to save it, he lost it (the same day they neutered him, in fact).

Pretty much the sweetest guy ever. Cleans himself fastidiously, loves to sleep and cuddle. We call him a cat-dog.

We think he's mostly English Shepherd, though we haven't had him genetically tested yet.

This guy’s 11th adopt-aversary was yesterday.

He’s got arthritis in his left hip pretty bad and is gobbling down medicine (inside Turkey pepperoni) every day for it.

We blinked, and he got old.

Gonna be joining DJ on the feels train soon, I fear. Sucks.

Just curious, where'd you get that ear from? And did you know there's a dog attached to it? Did you have to pay extra for the dog part? Or was it one of those 'Buy an ear get a free dog deals'?

Heartbroken. Devasted. Lost. I just lost my best friend of ten years. When Karlee came into my life I didn't like any dogs and hated big dogs. I didn't want her. Didn't need that chaos in my life. Oh was I ever wrong.
She had the kindest, most gentle soul. We love all three of our dogs but Karlee was just different. Almost human.

Karlee was the dog that would protect a baby bunny or baby bird and alert us so we could get it to safety. She didn't mind chasing adult animals or birds but she knew babies needed her protection.

Yesterday afternoon she suffered a stroke, seizure, or back problem. We took her to the puppy ER. They advised us to take her home and watch her for a couple days.

Last night I had a feeling she wasn't going to make it and told my wife I thought we'd better say goodbye before bed. My wife and I talked to her for a long time. Thanked her for lots of things. We told her it was okay to go and we love her so much and that we know she loves us. We were bawling and heartbroken. We were sitting on the floor by her and when I started crying really hard she lifted her head and hugged me for like ten seconds. She also held my hand with her paw. With that hug she told me that it was okay and she loved me. That exhausted her and she had to lay her head back down. She also kept reaching for Christy's hand while we talked to her.

Karlee changed me. She made me a better person. It makes no logical sense to me that I hurt this bad right now but I do. I love Karlee. She was family. I don't know what I'll do when I come home from work and she's not there with her gigantic ears pinned back and a giant smile on her face. I'm broken.

Today is the last day for voting. Apparently somebody else is better than we are at mobilizing a Facebook campaign. We surged out to a big lead and then they started getting dozens of votes at a time. We're now in 2nd place.

9 Weeks old yesterday; weighs 21 lbs. Gonna be a tank of a dog. Probably around 90 lbs since I keep mine fairly lean but the bone structure says he'll outweigh the rot by 15-20 lbs in all likelihood even with a good tuck on him.

I've tried the no dogs on the sofa thing.

Then I realized I want to pet my dog while I watch football and I own a vacuum cleaner so this rule is dumb.

I've had a wide range of dogs in my life, seemingly from bigger to smaller. I've loved all my dogs but this little thing really has her hooks into me. She was instantly my dog. She's hilarious and fearless. Her name is Arya (after Game of Thrones character). She follows me everywhere. I'm an insomniac and I'll go downstairs several times a night, almost every night, and she follows me down to the old sofa which seems to be the only place I have success and she plops herself up against my head to keep me company...over and over for years now. If something ever happened to her I'd be crushed. Weird how dogs have a special knack for making you love them.

Yep. I'm not a sofa person, that's the wife (I have a recliner), but the little one (as we call her) love to hop in the man-chair with me, do a flip-flop (flop back in your arms on their back), and get a tummy rub. Both these puppies live for tummy rubs...

I've made a free imgur account and upload them to imgur and copy the link to the picture after you upload it.

Nice looking Heeler. Mine is getting less hard headed. She just needed to figure out who is the boss here. :)

Enjoy her. Chief Dog (my last ACD) was a really special part of the family, and while Dottie is still a velociraptor sometimes, she's fitting right in and looking like a special part also.

So... I had to take my wife's dog Suzy to the vet for the final time. I was hoping that Suzy would hang on for at least a year after my wife's death but keeping her around was just selfish of me.

Suzy was 13 years old which is a good long run for a Chow mix. She was Cathy's faithful companion and I think not having her momma here is what ultimately broke her. She had an issue with her skin where it was tough and hard almost like scales, constantly got hot spots, moved extremely slowly, and would shiver as she slept.

She is with Cathy now and she gets to be with her boyfriend Ike (a friend's dog who she was absolutely in love with). This happened 3 weeks ago but I couldn't bring myself to post it until now.

One of my previous was 4lbs. I've had small dogs since 1996 when I lost my Rottie in the divorce, until this beast was dumped in my lap.

Little pain in my ass.

Most of you seen me in my bunny suit so kiss my ass about a lapdog.

I don't normally like small dogs.

We had a bad run of pets for a bit.
When I got sick one night we decided my boy needs a dog but this is what we ended up with.

Actually a good "dog" but since I stay home so much I have her most of the time.
