I created a save file right before it - then turned the difficulty to Normal and owned him. I'll go back later and try again but right now it's not worth my time. On to Act 2...

I did the same thing (save file, not lower difficulty).

If I hadn't finished it this morning, I was going to lower it.

1 tank runs in first and uses shield bash, tremor,taunt

leave everyone stunned and/or grouped up nicely

3 mages firestorm x3, fireball x3(winter's blast x3 if anyone is left :D )

mop up the blood :fire:

Tank runs in with shield bash (make sure you have the upgrade that lets you stagger).

ONE mage casts upgraded chain lighting.

4 mobs explode in a wash of gore. Even on nightmare.

Am just now wrapping up the last boss fight. After a fantastic Act 2, Act 3 is a total letdown.

I shall have to investigate this chain lighting thingie. Normally it's weak sauce.

btw - anyone try running with a Rogue as your tank? I mean cunning lets him unlock stuff but also boosts his defense. Add a few extra points into constitution and give him a shield and one-hander. :shrug: Of course he won't have taunt but in most cases he would be so far out front that he would naturally draw agro for stuff.

1 rogue tank + 3 pure dps mages might work

Btw, for Rogues, Mark of Death and Assassination are killer for boss fights.

do you only get the assassin class if you make the the Rogue?

i keep seeing all these skill trees that aren't available for the NPC's that i pick up.

That must be the case. Isabella doesn't get that skill tree. Bummer.

The assassin thing does kick ass, though.

I missed the Arishok, Templar, Unstoppable, Master Craftsman, and Supplier achievements, am considering a 2nd playthrough. I'd like the assassin tree as early as possible, so I guess I'll do the xp glitch.

If you're looking to tank with a rogue (I'm not, I tried a single quest area on Nightmare with Isabela tanking and it was... ... a nightmare), I would say rival Isabela is probably your best choice. Rivalry gives her a 10% dodge bonus, the Swashbuckler skill tree would give her +10 to defense (per enemy) from Savvy and Across the Bow is a single target taunt that (according to the skill description) can't be resisted. And then you could focus on the Scoundrel skill tree for further aggro control.

Finally had a little time to play last night, did Sebastian's Act 2 character quest. Pretty cool stuff.
