Ten Kansas State and seven Missouri football players were mentioned on Phil Steele’s 2014 preseason all-conference teams.

In the Big 12, K-State senior defensive end Ryan Mueller of Leawood was a first-team pick along with receiver Tyler Lockett, center B.J. Finney and guard Cody Whitehair.

Wildcats quarterback Jake Waters was a second-team pick and linebacker Jonathan Truman and defensive backs Randall Evans and Dante Barnett were third-team selections. Defensive linemen Terrell Clinkscales and Travis Britz made the fourth team.

Kansas receiver Nick Harwell, tight end Jimmay Mundine, guard Ngalu Fusimalohi and defensive backs Dexter McDonald and Isaiah Johnson were second-team picks.

In the SEC, Mizzou senior defensive end Markus Golden was a second-team selection along with senior punt returner Marcus Murphy, who also features prominently at running back.

Junior linebacker Kentrell Brothers, who is coming off labrum surgery, was picked for the third team.

Three Kansas City-area players — junior center Evan Boehm, a Lee’s Summit West graduate, junior defensive end Shane Ray, a Bishop Miege graduate, and junior kicker Andrew Baggett, a Lee’s Summit North graduate — made the fourth team.

Senior safety Braylon Webb also made the fourth team.

I don't think many do but it's a bit lazy by the star on missing a local player on the 1st team if they're going to report on it.

A bit of realignment news...

"We would love to be in the Big 12," BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall told Brian Davis of the Austin American-Statesman last Thursday. "I would love to be a member of that conference. I think that would make a lot of sense."

I think he's a good coach. I read The System and it seemed like he pulled that program together after some really bad criminal activity by players.

If he''s saying things publicly then I'd bet the school is behind him.

BYU is th only decent school left. They'd probably generate close to the 21m payout they'd take back. When once proud conferences like the BIG are reduced to slumming for Maryland and Rutgers, pickins be slim.

But you'd be opposed to this, correct? Because I could swear that you and Bambi have gone on and on about how 10 is the perfect number and everyone else is taking the "easy" way out.

Prison Bitch 06-10-2014 11:31 AM

Where did I say I wanted an 11th?

I didn't say you had. Just looking to get you on record to being opposed based on your ramblings from the past about 10 being the only right way to do it, thus making the Big 12-4+2 more legitimate than others.

Prison Bitch 06-10-2014 12:30 PM

Cite where I said 10 is ideal. You might be thinking of Bambi or RustShack.

Bambi 06-10-2014 01:49 PM

10 is ideal. It's the only way to produce a true champion in football and basketball.

I would only be in favor of adding BYU if it could be proven that the current Big 12 schools would maintain their current payout from the conference and not be forced to reduce what they bring in every year like the SEC has been forced to do.

It's possible I mixed up tweedle dee and tweedle dum....not going to go searching through all your posts to figure that one out. My apologies if that's the case.

In your opinion, is making the most money more important than having a good program in a good conference? I don't quite understand your obsession with the school payouts. They all make a sh%t-ton of dough, dude.
