Legit shocked.

Have to wonder if trade is in play. Unless they think this is the leverage they need to close deal.

Nah, you don't tie up 24 million dollars to get a 3rd round pick, this is entirely about keeping him.

TomBarndtsTwin 02-27-2025 01:17 PM

Incoming trade to the Bears for one of their two draft picks (39 or 41) in the second round and they ink him to the biggest contract in history for a guard.

Mark it down. This is what will happen.

Probably.

Oh, you’re considering our offer and New England’s for $1-2M more?

We’ll make the choice for you…

They aren't trading pick 39 for a guard, you are overvaluing his trade value.

Yep.

Long term deal coming that's backloaded - Thuney and Taylor off the books in 2026.

What leverage? He's going to get paid $23M this year just by signing it. He's not worth enough in a trade to justify the cap cost.

They probably already have a deal close and they did this to avoid losing him while they finalize it. They have until July now.

Does this all but seal the deal that they are wanting to bring DJ back cheaply, or God help us plan on Kingsley at LT?

Not really seeing the draft or FA as an option.

If they start the season with Kingsley and DJ as the plan at LT then they quite frankly deserve for Mahomes to get hurt and miss the playoffs.

That being said, there’s no way that’s possibly the plan. Right…?

Kingsley about to shock the world.

Well that is an extreme reaction.

O.city 02-27-2025 01:43 PM

You're gonna need Kingsley to play LT now, probably can't afford to go buy one.

I have a feeling you might be sorely disappointed, as will a lot of us. If the Chiefs think they can squeeze 1-2 good years out of Humphries for dirt cheap, they might settle on it.

Just have to trust them. Obviously, they must think guys like Jackson and Stanley aren't making it to free agency, or simply aren't worth what they would have demanded. Or, they may have a plan to open cap room if need be. Either way, keeping an elite guard is a good thing.
