I've been saying all OTA's how much work Demarcus Robinson is getting w/ the first team not Chesson. #Chiefs must like what they see.

Producer at 610 radio that has access to OTA's. Didn't realize Robinson was getting first team reps.
That says a lot about what the Chiefs think about him.

Starting to get excited........

Apparently he's looked great in OTAs. If he knows the Offense he can make some noise with 3-4 targets a game. Between Hunt, Ware, Conley, Tyreek, Kelce, TE#2 , Wilson, WR3 there are just not enough looks to go around... Makes the maclin cut make more sense

Read the reports from OTAs. Lots of really good stuff said about him and the work he put in during the offseason to be ready for 2017.

Cool, thank you. Would be fantastic if he can produce and replace Maclin (which isn't that much, obvi).

I think it's just great that Alex can hit so many downfield passes in no risk practice.

BossChief 06-03-2017 08:18 AM

With do many young guys at the position, I almost expect one of them to really step up and seize the opportunity.

If not, a WR will surely be a priority in the 2018 draft.

The best throw-and-catch of the day came on a pass from Smith to Robinson on a vertical route down the right sideline, which travelled at least 40 yards through the air and hit Robinson in stride for the touchdown.

"He's a great guy-love Alex, man," Robinson said. "He's a great dude. He's smart, so I just learned a lot from him over the offseason. [That work] was a tremendous part of me being able to do what I was able to do today."

Robinson showed out as one of the best athletes on the field on Wednesday, and he couldn't help but let those trying to cover him know who was winning the day.

Here and I expected a WR struggling for a spot on the depth chart to talk about Alex Smith like a Chiefs Planeteer.

WhiteWhale 06-03-2017 08:23 AM

I have heard the Robinson hype.

I'm skeptical. KC has had a LOT of off-season and training camp heros who turned out incredibly disappointing. It's common across the league really.

Of course, often times it is simply that the player grew and developed. Guys can develop VERY quickly in their first three years. Sometimes they'll go from rookie shit to sophomore star.

It's a curiosity, but I'll temper expectations... particularly with #11 throwing the ball.

Most people can't do that publicly and maintain gainful employment involving reason and analytical skill.

Alex is frustrating, but this place is hyperbolic as hell.

I mean, people STILL pretend he's as bad as Matt Cassel.

It's actually kind of weird that Matt Cassel had more support from this place than Smith.

I know collectively both were hated, but christ... Cassel had more than ONE defender and he was much worse.

Smith has more than one defender at CP.

Thankfully, most of them are transplant Frisco trash and not longtime Chiefs fans.

I'm laughing because people are justifying this move as an excuse to help Mahomes. The fact is when you have a young QB who you are trying to develop, an experienced WR is essential in helping that young QB grow because that WR, and especially Maclin, understands the offense. This move make zero sense. Maclin knows Reid's offense and he could have really helped Mahomes.

Maclin is injury prone, and he is almost 30. Conley, Hill, Wilson, Robinson, and Chesson will all be vets that know the offense by the time Mahomes is the starter. The best way to help Mahomes is to get the most out of our cap while we have him on a rookie contract. We have a good group of young WR's for him to grow with, and will continue drafting them.

This was day 2 of practice. Without Peters, Berry, and Houston.

Typical day 2 report from every season.

This looks more like what we are use too:

Casssel attempted to make plays that exposed how bad he was.

Smith doesn't have the balls to attempt those plays most of the time, so you can say he is safer, but you can not actually gauge if he is better.

staylor26 06-03-2017 08:43 AM

The fact that Robinson is getting first team reps this early leads me to believe they expect him to take a huge step forward.

That's such bullshit. Cassel made stupid plays that exposed how bad he was at football. Whether you think he's too safe or not, the mere fact that Alex doesn't try the reeruned shit Cassel did and does makes him better.

The fact that Alex doesn't doink hail marys off the goal post, or throw a flea flicker into a lineman's back is not a mark against him.
