Those of us who are older and have less of an ego realize that as we get older our johnsons weigh only 11 lbs... |
I wish I had a 15 lb johnson. That way I wouldn’t have to lug this big thing around.
|
Losing 63 lbs, DOES make it look larger...just saying. Oprah once said that you get 1/2 inch of usable penis for every 32 lbs lost.

Got my first quarter mile walk in today.....was nice to do something other than the limited things I had been given to do to this point.
Did see that this will need to be a slow and intelligent process getting back to normal health |

So....for those of you in this thread who are also doing rehab/exercise plans...
Anyone care to share what your regimen is? |
No longer rehabbing but I typically try to walk 10,000 steps a day. Sometimes all at once or sometimes broken up into 2-3 walks in the same day.
I also do intermittent fasting which basically means I only eat from noon to 5. Mostly protein based trying to eliminate fast food, carbs and sugars. I read quite a bit from Dr Bergs website or videos https://www.drberg.com Whatever fits your lifestyle |

A virus or infection blew out one of my vestibulars, we are retraining the other one to handle the entire workload. Once again, my cardio rehab was like a gym class for feeble old men. WAY easy. |

From there on one day, I do upper body with 10 pound weights a series 3 sets of 20 reps for 6 different exercises. two different wrist curls, biceps, chest and triceps. The next day lower body, with 6 different exercises, 3 sets of 20 reps each. Most with the rubber stretch things they gave me at physical therapy and my stair stepper and thigh master. Nest day repeat the upper, then the next day lower. Just keep alternating. Usually an hour total then a high protein breakfast of turkey bacon and egg beaters. |

I've battled vertigo off and on for about 8 years now. I wouldnt wish it on my worst enemy. Vision therapy and balance therapy helps you get back to your baseline, for sure. I've also read that taking vitamin D supplements can help keep vertigo from recurring. godspeed......vertigo sucks big time. EDIT: Do the exercises until you can't take it, and try to use meclizine as little as possible, as using meclizine dulls the senses and doesnt help your vision/balance rehab as quickly. |

Did my baselines today.....I have a little bit of work to do, but nothing that can't be fixed with the regimen they set for me.

My Father, 87 years old, takes Valium for his vertigo. He says it helps. Baffles me though. |

In fact, the only thing they offer is Zofran, which is an anti-nauseau medication. Treatment for vertigo is physical therapy. My guess is your father's age is why they gave it to him. |

Sure seemed to me like a bunch of guesswork bullshit, which has happened with every doctor I've seen the past two weeks. Needless to say, I'm pretty frustrated right now. |

I feel for you guys and vertigo.....that has to be just frustrating as hell...
My first session had some interesting exercises.... See how many times I can stand up and sit down without using my hands in a 30 second period Walk 6 minutes at a normal pace and then have your BP measured to see how it elevates See how long I last on an EllipseFit style machine before my legs get tired How many times can I lift 15 lbs to my chest from my waist before getting tired... I had cool down periods between each item......and my BP was measured each time. |

Holy crap....my 2nd workout was much more of a test...
Treadmill walk for 6 minutes at a moderate pace...keeping the Watts level at 25... Bicycle ride for 6 minutes at a moderate pace....keeping the Watts level at 45... Another version of the bicycle ride at a moderate pace for 6 minutes...resistance higher and Watts level at 35... 30 leg lifts with a 10 lb weight on each leg... 30 stand up/sit down without using my arms.... 20 arm bends with 5 lb weight each arm... 10 pushups... 20 Step Up/Step down for each leg to finish the workout. |

Did you do real pushups like we did in hs gym class and boot camp or just from the knee up? I doubt if I could do 2 of the real ones like when we were young. |
I did real pushups....I think my pride would not have let me do the knees up kind.

I felt the soreness today...I am sure that will eventually go away, but damn I am out of shape.

I went yesterday. Dang these exercises get radically more difficult, but I realize challenging my system accelerates the healing. Last one I did, I did fairly easy. I aksed her, "My first visit, I don't think I could have done this, could I?" Her response was, "Absolutely not". It can be frusterating, but it helps that I see the results.
|
The start of my 2nd week of workouts was a real test...
Treadmill walk for 8 minutes at a medium pace...keeping the Watts level at 30... Bicycle ride for 8 minutes at a medium pace....keeping the Watts level at 50... Another version of the bicycle ride at a medium pace for 8 minutes...resistance greater and Watts level at 40... Arm pedal only for 8 minutes with Watts at 35 30 leg lifts with a 10 lb weight on each leg...(this one stayed normal) 45 stand up/sit down without using my arms.... 20 arm bends with 7.5 lb weight each arm... 15 pushups... 30 Step Up/Step down for each leg Resistance bands height level- 20 pullbacks focusing on upper body strength Resistance bands 9 feet - 20 pull downs again focusing on upper body strength |
The goal each workout is to not let my BP raise more than 15 points more than my pre-workout measurement....
So far I have been in compliance |
All.....this will probably be my last post on this thread.....just wanted to let you know.
My progress is steady and I am sticking to my Rehab orders like I should. I just don't want to tire people out seeing my posts.....so rather than make this a continual thread, I will, from time to time, give everyone updates via PM's.... No one likes to read about health issues.....because it reminds them of their own mortality . For those interested....this is actually World Health Day......the perfect time to make sure you are living the life you need to, so that you can watch Patrick Mahomes win his 8th Super Trophy and MVP of the Super Bowl! |
Quote:
And as far as being reminded of our own mortality, it's a kick in the ass that we all need. Get/keep moving, take care of yourselves, and enjoy living as healthy of a life as you can manage for however long you can. |
