The last game I seem to remember that the Bills had quite a few long sustained drives. And that was a big difference in the game.

Buffalo had one of their defensive backs sustain a shoulder injury. Will be interesting to see if we attack his side of the field.

lost Tapp to a hip injury too. He probably is out. Taron Johnson hurt his shoulder, but went back in.

mr. tegu 01-19-2025 09:27 PM

Fool me once and fool me twice and all that but there is just no reason we shouldn’t have tremendous success on offense against them. We have all the pieces to exploit the holes that exist everywhere in the secondary.

IowaHawkeyeChief 01-19-2025 09:28 PM

rested, rust knocked off, healthy Chiefs at home are going to be a lot bigger task than Week 11 for the Bills

Hammock Parties 01-19-2025 09:29 PM

#Bills injuries during the game:

Returned:

Connor McGovern: Right shoulder AC joint
Terrel Bernard: Undisclosed
Taron Johnson: Left shoulder, possible subluxation

Did not return:

Taylor Rapp: Right hip, possible labral tear

Biggest one is Rapp out of these injuries.

Stryker 01-19-2025 09:30 PM

Bro's really? We are going to BEAT the Bills IN OUR HOUSE! CHIEFS beat Eagles for the 3 PEAT!

RollChiefsRoll 01-19-2025 09:30 PM

Look for a big game for Hopkins. He’s perfectly suited to stretch this average to bad secondary extremely thin. Hit them on crossers and back shoulder fades all goddamn day.

Hollywood Brown and D-Hop are potential aces in the hole for this game. Hollywood wasn't there in the first game. D-Hop barely joined the team leading into that first game. Need both of them to bring their "A" game. Need Mahomes to protect the ball better than he did last time. Zero turnovers!

JimNasium 01-19-2025 09:33 PM

There’s much more pessimism than I expected in this thread. Get on the bus you pussies, Pat ain’t losing this game.

I counted at least 3 turnover worthy plays from CJ Stroud. The fumble, and at least 2 interception quality throws from Stroud. Would be nice if Chiefs can take advantage on those when they get the chance. Last year in Playoff game against Buffalo, Josh Allen got away with 2 turnover worthy plays on final drive. Chiefs failed to recover his fumble, and failed to catch his interception quality throw.

On the flip side, Buffalo defense is really good at taking advantage of turnover worthy plays. Buffalo leads the league in turnover margin because of the flukey stuff that seems to happen for their defense. They needed every bit of a 3-0 turnover margin to win a close game today. Mahomes will need to be careful with his decisions & throws. Skill players need to protect the ball as top priority, don't fight too hard for extra yardage.

louie aguiar 01-19-2025 09:37 PM

Trey Smith needs to play better. Ed Oliver beat him pretty good the first game.

FloridaMan88 01-19-2025 09:38 PM

You watch Buffalo in the second half tonight vs the Ravens, and their offense is nothing when Josh Allen isn’t going into Superman mode.

And there is no way Spags is going to allow that to happen on Sunday.

Wallcrawler 01-19-2025 09:39 PM

Josh will be sad to see there's no Nazee Johnson out there with his thumb up his ass and big grin on his face in a tragi comic display of pass coverage.

ForeverIowan 01-19-2025 09:39 PM

I hope our receivers and backs were paying attention tonight. First Bills defender to the ball punching to force a fumble instead of tackling. Ball security. Dont turn the ball over we arent losing in Arrowhead. Mahomes' last turnover was week 11 in Buffalo. He is playing incredible football.

Bills played a lot of Man in the first meeting...the first time they've tried that.

I said it after the game...they played their hand too soon. Wont be any surprises this time...they got their token reg season win.

Chiefs also went away from Worthy for some reason....he was torching them then nothing.

McDermott copying the Lou Anarumo playbook with the Bengals a few years ago. Punch the ball out on every play, even if your tackling sucks. It's working very well for Buffalo judging by the flukey turnover stuff that has gone their way this season.

We've been waiting all season for the offense to breakout. It was supposed to be yesterday with everyone healthy, but the O-line had other ideas and the WRs disappeared besides Worthy. We absolutely should move the ball against this Buffalo team unless the O-line struggles again. Every week someone predicts a blowout and that's fine, but the game is probably coming down to the wire unless Buffalo shits themselves or Allen gets injured. A win is all that matters ultimately but I'd be surprised if it's not a close game.

It's true that we play with our food. This team beat us for doing that, so it's unlikely.

I don't remember even seeing Hopkins on the field more than twice, same for Hollywood. Not sure what the deal was, or if it really was just rust and going to Kelce out of habit.

DJay23 01-19-2025 09:47 PM

The Bills are opportunistic.

Spags is very good at game specific D schemes.

Their D can be had.

Chiefs play championship football and put Allen off of his spot, don't turn the ball over, and put pressure on their D by possessing the ball and we win going away.

For what it's worth his PFF grade is 52, not good. Watson is 72 and Williams is 64, which is decent. They trust him for something but I'm not sure what they're seeing. He may be decent in zone packages and poor in man. I'm just guessing here.

Exactly. Long drives that keep Allen on the sidelines, sweating. McDerpitt will make some fear induced gaffes as well.

Andy just can't abandon the run when it's working. Hunt was getting 4-5 on first down, then didn't even get his 12th touch until the 4th quarter.

Ball security paramount over YAC. Bills defenders want to F around punching at the ball the YAC will come in bunches.

I'm sure there will be plenty of BS in the media this week to help fuel the fire. Media seems to go out of their way to downplay Mahomes while elevating his rivals as much as possible. Bring on the bulletin board material (again).

You gotta credit Lassiter and Stingley for shutting down Hollywood and Dhop/JJSS

Quote:

Along with his teammate, the aforementioned Derek Stingley Jr., Lassiter was a huge factor in shutting down the Chargers' passing game. The first-year cornerback finished with a 90.5 PFF coverage grade — the highest mark of his young career and the fourth-highest among rookie cornerbacks in the postseason — after surrendering zero receptions on three targets into his coverage and securing his fifth interception on the year.
Quote:

The honor of the wild-card round’s highest-graded coverage defender goes to Stingley, who secured a phenomenal 94.9 mark against the Chargers. Houston’s coverage, spearheaded by Stingley’s two fourth-quarter interceptions, surrendered little room for the Chargers to maneuver. The third-year cornerback also notched a pair of forced incompletions and a forced fumble, a credit to his sticky and aggressive coverage ability.

TwoBillsDrive started a thread about being worried about officiating after the gifts they received tonight, particularly the late hit out of bounds on Lamar and the god awful DPI that as called with less than 2 minutes in the half. Those bad calls actually changed the outcome.

Didn't Hopkins only have 16 snaps? He was shut down by the gameplan more than the opposing players. JJSS is good for one or two catches per game. He's not been utilized much besides blocking. Certainly not the player we had in 2022.

Buffalo doesn't have Houston's pass rush, that's true. But our O-line is hard to predict at times. They came out against Pittsburgh, a good pass rushing team, and moved the ball easily without allowing Watt/Heyward to affect the game. At other times, they're unable to block scrubs on the opposition.

Yep. But not counted as a turnover in the box score, which is interesting to me. It should count.

Good I hope the media does too. All of them.

You know damn well if we win they'll just say the refs rigged it

we went up by 7 and got conservative, they closed to 1 after the missed PAT, we needed to score and we did, and went up by 8 and then went conservative. We only punted 2. Andy will unleash the full plan on Sunday.

Why now?

Aren't we saving it for the Eagles in the SB?

Yeah saving your best players and plays for the game you really need against the team you last lost too....makes perfect sense to me.

Of course they did. Buffalo is all about hypocrisy, starting with their owner. Voted against changing the Overtime rule when Patriots benefited against Chiefs. He turned around and begged to change the rule 3 years later when KC benefited against Buffalo.

Buffalo got plenty of Ref help in the first Chiefs matchup this season. ZERO holding penalties on Buffalo OL while grabbing Chris Jones the entire game. Chiefs OL had a holding call that killed a drive in second half. There was a DPI call on Chiefs to extend a Buffalo drive on 3rd down, leading to a TD. Buffalo got away with blatant OPI on a TD play for another drive as well. Some huge calls to shift that game in their favor.

That was the sense I got from that game...more of a fact finding mission for the post-season. For the Bills...it was their SB.

Spags not spying Allen on that 4th down TD run was the tell...no way he does that in the AFCCG.
