dlphg9 01-25-2025 07:00 PM

Terrible ****ing call on that fifth foul got A Rob. Looked like a good block to me.

dlphg9 01-25-2025 07:01 PM

I've never seen so many offensive fouls called on one team in my life. That was legit, but the others weren't.

dlphg9 01-25-2025 07:02 PM

Wtf is that call on Mark Mitchell? These ****ing refs need shot in their heads.

dlphg9 01-25-2025 07:03 PM

Tamar Bates is a ****ing stud.

dlphg9 01-25-2025 07:08 PM

What a ****ing horse shit ruling. Should be a foul, but instead the fouling team gets the ball under their basket.

jjchieffan 01-25-2025 07:08 PM

Wow! SMH. Ole Miss ball because he fouled

dlphg9 01-25-2025 07:09 PM

Bad play by Grill right there. Damn.

jjchieffan 01-25-2025 07:11 PM

Way to knock down both free throws

jjchieffan 01-25-2025 07:12 PM

That's not getting overturned

jjchieffan 01-25-2025 07:13 PM

Nice defense in the paint there

jjchieffan 01-25-2025 07:20 PM

Nice win! I wish that they could have beaten the dang Longhorns. That one will probably knock them out of the top 25 despite this win

Mizzou_8541 01-25-2025 07:20 PM

We are a good team. Can beat any team on any given day.

Boxer_Chief 01-25-2025 07:23 PM

Schedule coming up is brutal. Need to go 2-1

'Hamas' Jenkins 01-25-2025 07:46 PM

They're 16-4 with yet another top 25 win. Texas beating aTm should help them too.

They're a clear top 20 team

Pepe Silvia 01-25-2025 08:38 PM

I missed the game, when I saw Hamas was the last post I thought it was an L. ROFL

Boxer_Chief 02-01-2025 12:29 PM

Caleb Grill might be in my top 5 favorite tigers in my lifetime

Boxer_Chief 02-01-2025 12:43 PM

Same song and story the sec refs suck ass

dlphg9 02-01-2025 12:49 PM

This Mizzou team can get off to one hell of a start lol

duncan_idaho 02-01-2025 01:01 PM

It's really cool, as a human, to see Caleb Grill having this season.

Kid has had some obstacles, and it is always fun to see someone overcome difficulties.

This team can be a LOT of fun. I really like the Gray-Mitchell-Pierce-Grill-Robinson or Perkins lineup. Lot of size, athleticism, and offensive ability with that group. Only real weak link is Grill as on-ball defender.

Dartgod 02-01-2025 01:08 PM

So they're just going to whistle us every time we breathe on them?

Dartgod 02-01-2025 01:15 PM

OMG, Gray made both FT's!

BWillie 02-01-2025 01:16 PM

I think you guys are actually good.

Holy shit, Grill is en fuego!

phisherman 02-01-2025 01:46 PM

Gates is finding some nice rotations for his guys. There is definitely some real talent there.

jjchieffan 02-01-2025 02:00 PM

Another good game today. Such an amazing turn around from last year. Going from winless in the SEC to winning against 4 ranked opponents so far. How far can this team go in the tournament? At this rate, sweet 16 is realistic.

Pepe Silvia 02-01-2025 02:15 PM

They kicked ass today.

warpaint* 02-01-2025 02:25 PM

Hoops are fun again.

JohnnyHammersticks 02-01-2025 03:50 PM

Damnnnn. Just watched it. We might make some noise in the tourney this year. That was beyond impressive.

Boxer_Chief 02-01-2025 04:26 PM

Next two are pretty tough. If we can somehow beat Tennessee watch out.

dlphg9 02-01-2025 04:43 PM

If they wouldn't have gone completely cold against Texas, then they'd be top 10 next week.

Pitt Gorilla 02-01-2025 08:13 PM

Who was the idiot that suggested Gates was a one-trick pony, or some such?

Probably Pepe Silva, he's usually pretty stupid when it comes to this stuff.

I on the other hand have never said a bad thing about Dennis Gates. He's my favorite Mizzou coach ever.

Boxer_Chief 02-02-2025 09:57 AM

What will we be ranked this week? Top 15? I’m thinking switch with miss state at 13

Lol. Yeah. There was a lot of hate for Gates with going winless in the SEC last year. Even though we knew that it would it be a down year, I don't think anyone expected that. But he's turned it around this year. I, for one, am glad that we have Gates.

That team is probably a lot different if Caleb Grill doesn’t get hurt + experience a mental health crisis, and Tonje doesn’t get hurt.

Everything came together perfectly for this squad.

Gray has given them the size, physicality, defense and rebounding they lacked. And he’s bad-ass defending the pick and roll.

Mitchell is the perfect F for Gates. Big and athletic, can defend bigs and rebound, but also has wing skills and can defend the wing in switch situations or drive on bigger guys.

Perkins is the perfect combo guard to pair with Ant. Physical, can handle, gives them a really nice floor for PG performance game in, game out.

The. You throw in Pierce and Ant taking nice steps forward, and Grill getting healthy and shooting like he’s Larry Curry or something, and even a few freshmen giving them good minutes when needed, and it’s a deep, talented squad with a lot of depth.

BWillie 02-02-2025 10:13 AM

I hate to break it to you guys but Caleb Grill is not this good. He will shoot you out of some games on his own. But hes streaky and hes hot. Gotta hope for the best.

I hate to break it to you, but that’s college basketball. It’s the same with that Hunter Dickinson guy on KU. He can get lucky every now and then and put together a good stat line, and then disappear completely against teams like Creighton or in big games in Ames.

Well yeah I don't expect he will keep shooting 49% from 3, but I bet he finishes at worst in the low 40%s. He's clearly gotten alot better than he was in years past.

We got ranked 15th which is an absolute joke. One spot ahead of kansas one spot behind Kentucky. We play number 4 ranked Tennessee Wednesday and number 10 ranked a&m Saturday. Big games this week, need to go 1-1 at least. This conference is no joke.

Gotta beat A&M.

If you beat Tennessee, this is a no-shit potential Final 4 team. If you can go into Knoxville and win that game, there's not a game you CAN'T win. You can beat anyone.

Now I'm not gonna get THAT optimistic so I harbor few illusions about beating TN.

But that A&M game is a real stress test moment. At home with a chance to prove you're a legitimate top 4 seed in the tournament.

You make it to that 2 or 3 line and anything can happen. You hang tough with TN and beat A&M and that's absolutely on the table.

But....Mizzou.

Pretty much lol. They had a chance to be a top 10 team and really set themselves up for a really nice seed in the tourney.

Welp. 34-28 against #4 TN at the half.

DJ's left nut 02-05-2025 06:50 PM

Yeah - win or lose, this is a legit squad.

They're gonna shit the bed at least one more time this year but on any given night they seem to be able to beat anyone in the country. And they can do it in different ways. We've seen them play great defense, get hot from deep, do it inside, drive/dish, win with ball movement.

They don't seem to have only one way to win. I'd say their ceiling depends on their shooting but that goes for literally every team in the country.

It's just a very good basketball team.

Boxer_Chief 02-05-2025 06:58 PM

Hold on for twenty minutes and the story of this season takes a dramatic turn as far as our tournament run.

comochiefsfan 02-05-2025 06:59 PM

Hold on tonight and win on Saturday and this is a top 10 team next week.

Pepe Silvia 02-05-2025 07:13 PM

Barrett is gonna be good but he’s just young right now. Perkins just can’t quite handle the ball good enough for a pg. we need Ant to play because he can handle and can shoot from deep which it looks like Barrett can’t yet. He missed a big three that would’ve cut it to a 3 point game late and it looked ugly on a great look from Grill.

Also we have to hit our free throws for the love of God. Killed us last night. Well that and the number four team on the road shooting over 70% from three.

Dartgod 02-06-2025 11:31 AM

Disappointed that we lost, but I expected it. I was just hoping that we would keep it competitive and we did. They really had to work for that victory. No shame in losing on the road to the #4 team. Our guys know that could have and should have won that game.

Now, take care of business against A&M on Saturday.

Yeah - the Texas game and TN game both were times when I'm watching Barrett out there as the game is in the balance thinking "Man, we HAVE to get this kid off the floor..."

And sho 'nuff, he duffs a look he really needed to hit for a shot at winning that game. You'd have heard buttholes pucker in Knoxville from all the way in CoMo had that shot fallen and we HAVE the guys to hit it. We just didn't put it in their hands.

Barrett is still a fun young prospect, but he's not ready. We need to stop acting like he is.

The 2nd run really hurt.

You knew you weren't getting through a road game against a top 5 team without them putting on a run. Suddenly we went from up 10 to down 7ish. Then we pulled it to within 3 and lost the plot again.

They answered the first run and that's what good teams do to win those tough road games. But then they allowed the 2nd run and you really just can't do that against excellent teams on the road.

Oh well -- shouldn't be any harm done. They acquitted themselves nicely in that game and battled their asses off to the end. Tennessee is good and we didn't play quite well enough for the full 40 minutes to steal it. Shit happens.

Ant should have been playing more, but he only had 6 minutes on the floor because he keeps ****ing fouling lol. He's had 30 fouls in his last 8 games, so he's averaging about 4 fouls a game. Idk what's gotten info him recently, because he only had 32 fouls in the 13 games before this stretch. Seems the SEC officials are calling more fouls.

We need him on the court, because he's our best ball handler and the guy had 4 fouls in 6 minutes of play time lol. That's insane.

dlphg9 02-06-2025 11:55 AM

Man we have some really bad FT shooters on this team.

Also, while looking at stats I ran across a name that I had almost forgot was on the team. Aiden Shaw. That guy has become demoted to bench warmer. He's gotten 17 min in conference play. I'm betting he transfers out.

Josh Gray is bad. Other than him, there isn't an egregiously bad FT shooter on the squad.

What killed them last night was literally the best FT shooter in the conference missing two front ends when they were struggling on offense.

That game plays out a little differently down the stretch if all you change is Bates converting all 4 of those FTs like you'd expect, instead of them ending up as 0-2.

Shaw's role has been sniped by Mark Mitchell and Trent Pierce. Each of those guys can give you everything Shaw offers on defense (size, rebounding, athleticism, length) while also offering nice offensive contributions (Pierce is a legit inside-outside guy, Mitchell can drive and create).

There are many 4 star recruits that pull a Glen Dandrige at Mizzou, its baffling.

It's not just Mizzou.

There are 100+ 4* recruits every year. There AIN'T that many great players that come into the NCAA every season.

Maybe a quarter of those guys actually pan out anywhere near their prospect standing. I wouldn't worry a ton about it -- it's pretty rare that any of them leave Mizzou and amount to much either.

Just the nature of the beast. These kids are 17/18 years old when they get these ranks. We really don't know dick about how they'll develop when they're stuck in a grownups world and told its time to sink or swim.

I mean, you'd expect him to go 2-4 there (it also helps that his setup is so unique he's leading the world in drawn lane violations - he gets a do-over on about 1/4 of his attempts, it seems like).

So you're +1 over expectation there, but you'd expect Bates to make 4/4. So -4. Still a net loss.

JohnnyHammersticks 02-06-2025 09:48 PM

When Mitchell isn't effective and Robinson is in foul trouble we lose the two most productive guys in terms of getting to the rim on offense. Mitchell hasn't been as effective since we started conference play. There are so many solid defensive bigs in the SEC that he can't get around like he did non-SEC teams.

I don't ever remember seeing a league that has as many good teams as the SEC does right now. They're like the Big East and ACC of the past, but they're a 16 team league that legit goes about 12 or 13 teams deep. Teams that can beat any team in the country on any given night. The fact that Auburn still hasn't lost a conference game is pretty crazy.

Boxer_Chief 02-07-2025 09:58 AM
