Best Hallmark movie.
|
This film have a money shot or not?
|
It was every bit as cheesy as I expected. The only thing saving it was the shots of Arrowhead and the cameos of players and others.

Skyy Moore is such trash another actor can play his part better than himself!

You know it’s a good movie when 99% of the dialogue has background music. :thumb:

I was thinking this too, especially after the Friday raider game, we watched. It was predictably cringe here and there. But overall better than I thought it would be. |

Just finished watching the Hallmark Chiefs Christmas movie. A few thoughts about it:
This whole thing is surreal. It’s almost like the story of my own family. It’s shot literally in my hometown, just a mile from my house. I saw the movie being shot, and as you watch it, realize it was shot in July. All those folks wearing winter coats must have been hot as Hell. The snow is fake. The “Chiefs Store” on the square is usually an antiques store called “Wild About Harry.” Clinton’s is a real soda fountain that was originally a drug store where Harry Truman worked as a teenager. The only actual “Chiefs Stores” in KC are called “Rally House,” and there’s multiple stores in the Metro. The BBQ joint is a pizza parlor called “Square Pizza.” Next door is a place called “Discount Casket Outlet” but that is not shown in the movie. Across the street is the Planet Queen Record shop and Big John’s Bar, and Dave’s Bakery is a real place on that block. In some shots you can see Ophelia’s Restaurant, which is in the old Katz Drug Store. You also see the Pharaoh Theater, where Mrs. B and I go to the movies often. Ex-Chiefs players in the movie include Christian Okoye and Trent Green. Current Chiefs include Trey Smith, CEH, Karlaftis, Hardman and Coach Reid. You also see KC Wolf, Gracie Hunt and KC’s mayor Quentin Lucas. Travis Kelce’s mom plays the waitress in the restaurant. The family home is a stone house on River Blvd, just a couple blocks north of the Community of Christ Auditorium. Hi-Boy’s at River and US 24 is about a quarter of a mile down the street. The plot revolves around a “lucky stocking cap” that the family wears to help the Chiefs win on Christmas. Superstitious Chiefs fans include me. I use the same Chiefs coffee cup my parents gave me in 1980 every game day. In the movie the family is gifted a pair of seats from Municipal Stadium. Many families in KC have seats like these, as they were sold for charity when the stadium was torn down. This kind of struck home with me, because my mom and dad who are both gone now, sat next to each other at the old stadium in seats just like these. Dusty in here.. There’s shots in the movie in the Chiefs Hall of Honor, which is right where my section is for my Chiefs seats (Section 119). Also, on the alleged Christmas Day game, nobody is wearing extreme cold weather gear. Most times it’s below Freezing in KC on Christmas Day. Not always, but usually. The only mistake I saw in the movie was, the lead actor gives a little girl’s father tickets to a game. That’s not how it works now. All tickets are electronic, and are on your phone’s wallet app. There are no paper tickets, and haven’t been for several years now. The story was typical Hallmark sticky icky, and of course, nobody got laid, as usual. I suppose it's implied. But no hard core raw dogging is allowed in Hallmark movies. I understand the lead chick is a Raiders fan in real life, so she'd be a grudge ****. I also think the rest of the NFL probably wants to puke when they see this. I know if this movie revolved around the Patriots, or the Donks, or God Forbid the Raiders, I’d have no use for it. Hallmark is a Kansas City based company, so its a home town company giving a gift to its own family. If you’ve ever lived in Independence, you’ll want to see this just because it’s Independence. Curiously, there are no meth lab explosions in the movie. The Chiefs gave away stocking caps at the last Denver game. Now I get the connection. All in all, I enjoyed just seeing stuff I'm familiar with. Now I'm going to have to watch the entire Band of Brothers box set to shoo away the Gay... |
BTW: Shout out to Dart God who I met Friday at the game. Nice to meet you in person!
Oh, and also in the movie are Ed Begley, Jr. Spinal Tap's original drummer who died in a bizarre Gardening Accident, and Deidrich Bader, the guy in Office Space who tells Peter he wants "To Do Two Chicks at the Same Time, Man..." <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/4lmW2tZP2kU?si=xCWO4-xU5wk1uEjn" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tZrqC5LL_oo?si=U_ebbjh4n2aCJJnW" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

The grandma was named Norma. Tip of the cap to Norma Hunt?

But it does not sound like they mentioned the 71 christmas day game |
It was a typical Hallmark.
A lot of stars. A lot of green screen. But this time the kiss was early and the magic at the end should be a Chiefs win. |

Looks like Union is a block east of River. I remember reading a story in the Kansas City star last summer when the shooting was going on and I think they said the house was on River. My bad. Same neighborhood I’m pretty sure.

Hah, I noticed that too! Also... wasn't this supposed to be taking place during the 2023 season, where the Chiefs played the Raiders on Christmas day (not the Eagles) and unfortunately got their asses kicked. |

Watching now. You can tell its July when they filmed it.
|
Lots of Chiefs easter eggs in this.
Main dude is named Derrick Taylor. Clearly after Derrick Thomas. Diedrich Bader's character - Hank - after Hank Stram Grandma's name is Norma - after Norma Hunt |
I loved it when Derrick tried to reassure her there was no way the entire city of KC would turn on her when the Chiefs lost.
He's obviously never been on CP. |

Trent Green has a beautiful smile. I'm not gay but a football is a football.

Green didn't even have his name on his jersey, I bet it was a Hill jersey covered up. haha
