What I find interesting is the day after McDaniels is hired by the Broncs,Clark pulls the trigger on Pioli. Did Clark do this to prevent a 'mini-Pat dynasty' to occur? I think so. Because it makes sense to bring in a HC and Personnel Dir who have worked together with significant success.

Good Call Clark!

Shag 01-13-2009 02:57 PM

How long until this is Pioli Planet?

Amnorix 01-13-2009 02:57 PM

Well congrats to the Chiefs. Better the Chiefs than the Broncos or Jets. I'm still not happy to be getting raided seemingly every year. It gets very tiresome, but it's the price of success I suppose. Better to have this than to have everyone ignore your team and its coaches because they are the very definition of mediocrity. I don't remember anyone wanting our front office personnel or coaches during the years before the Belichick era.

I hope that he decides to stick with the 4-3 defensive system that the Chiefs currently run so there's less competition for the types of players the Patriots care about.

Ah well. If nothing else, this does tell me that Belichick is going to remain in New England for many years to come. If he thought he was a year or two away, I think SP would've stayed at New England and taken over all football operations after BB's retirement.

(just trying to find some silver lining here, don't mind me)

It is awesome that we got Pioli. I would have been happy with a few other candidates, but this is a huge step forward for the Chiefs. Now I can't wait to hear that Herm is officially out the door. It will be the icing on the cake.

My God, they've been completely clowned by every publication during this whole ordeal.

What a joke of a newspaper.

Didn't Teicher say a day or two ago that Clark might wait until after the Super Bowl? LOL good contacts.

They beat WPI. They don't even have an article about it yet.

My all time favorite football chant was seared into my memory at a hs football game that had our former QB1 benched for the Junior.

Now on the Bench's father, "Hey, (insert Head coaches name), you Sunofabiotch!11. IT's Over with." Of course, he was referring to my Alma matters tradition of benching the starters for the 4rth quarter once the game was in hand, but, it was only the first quarter.

So here goes, "HEY HERM!1 You sunofabiotch, IT's OVAH WITH!!111!1"

New England Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has agreed to become head of football operations for the Kansas City Chiefs, two NFL sources confirmed to ESPN's Michael Smith.
<!-- INLINE NFL.com Video (END) -->Pioli was seen packing up his office Tuesday afternoon, a Patriots source said.

The decision to hire Pioli likely means Herman Edwards will not be back as Chiefs head coach next season. Among the top candidates to succeed Edwards is New York Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo.

Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio will replace Pioli as vice president of player personnel, league sources told ESPN.

Pioli, 43, has been with the Patriots for nine years.

Pioli should find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli."

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3830515

THought this needed its own thread for all of those not scouring the Pioli Watch thread.

He isn't inked yet. He has agreed to come here, according to THIS report. Not done yet though.

They are saying BB runs the show, the Pats will be fine. Kind of dissing Pioli.

Also said Pioli got tired of being "the other guy" and wants to run the show, have his own team.
