It isn’t like last years question mark where we totally rolled the dice. We know what we have in Moore / caliendo at worst with upside if Kingsley is even better. That is most certainly better than Wanya and caliendo. Probably even better than Wanya/thuney because Wanya was that bad.

So at least as a starting point we are competent. The work now goes into making it better to much better.

Well, the entire season hinges on two unproven projects protecting the blind side of the best QB ever. So, safe to say I’ve been more confident. The ceiling is higher than it’s been in years, but the floor might be rough, too. It’s going to be interesting.

This a Skky Moore/Toney situation all over again. All their eggs are in Kingsley and Moore’s baskets. Good luck kids, go do it.

As of now, yes. But we still have the rest of free agency (though an other OL move is unlikely) and the draft.

Caliendo is not even a worst case option… he’s a no option (see the Super Bowl).

And all the optimistic projection for Kingsley at LG is similar to the optimism for him at LT during training camp last year.

Signing a veteran LG as a back-up option in case Kingsley is not the answer at LG is imperative.

Nah as one of the lead critics of that ****ed up wr situation it isn’t the same to me. We know exactly what we have in Moore and caliendo and they’re both playing in position. Many of us knew it was hell of a reach to believe Toney or skyy could ever step up to a full time x/y role. These guys may not be world beaters but at worst they’re competent enough.

The entire OL was a mess during the Super Bowl for a lot of reasons. As a worst case scenario we could do a lot worse and I suspect he’ll be at least a little better when lined up next to a halfway decent LT.

But i don’t think that will even be an issue because I think between Wanya and Kingsley and the draft we will have plenty to choose from that will end up winning the job

Similar, but the risk isn’t near the same.

LG is nowhere near as important as LT.

Better than I was 4 weeks ago.

Who's gonna be the swing T?

crayzkirk 03-11-2025 12:24 PM

I have no idea other than drafting 29-32 for seven years makes things a bit difficult. Given how much the cap is invested in other players, some shortcuts have to be taken. LT just seems like an odd choice for a shortcut. It's not supposed to be easy to pay everyone. Just please do something to help Patrick, if this is it, then fine. I'm just uneasy dealing with the 49ers because of past trades (which mean nothing today however feelings aren't rational).

I'd like to see them sign Jedrick Wills too. Then I'd feel great about this OL.

I feel better, and I feel the floor is higher. I'm not as convinced by Kingsley as most, but I kinda feel we get average from, if not him, then Morris or Nourzad at LG.

Saw Matt Lane wetting his knickers about Moore not being a great fit. Meh, sure, there's a non-zero chance he also sucks, but he absolutely is better than what we had, and he should give us more in the running game. I think that's more important than we might expect.

I guess ideally I'd have kept Thuney over Smith, even at his age, but I get it. I'd also ideally like an upgrade over Morris as swing/backup. Even DJ coming back, though I'm not sure that's now likely.

We should be better, possibly inching back to average on that left side. Would love Mahomes to have elite OTs, but it is what it is, I think that's all we need to be.

Trading Thuney got us the cap room to tag Smith and sign Bolton. Plus Veach has does wonders with our defense with those 4th round picks.

If you think we're going to have zero question marks in March, you're not being realistic.
