I'm kind of in this boat. I've never had any issues with this shot, so if it saves me from having to deal with a week of being sick, then yay. This shot doesn't bother me because it's been proven for years.

If you're throwing up then it's probably not the flu.

Same. I get it at work every year...doesn't bother me and the one time I got the flu years ago unvaccinated and it sucked.

You're probably fine, but I've always been told to wait until October. That way you're getting the best protection as flu season ramps up and then also ramps down.

I thought about asking about who was planning to get the covid booster as well, but that may have tilted a bit too political. Which is a shame.

Yes. Tdap at the same time. Both free.

Seems to be the most common sentiment.. at the same time, when you catch the flu and have mild symptoms, you don’t go to the doctor for it so you probably never know you even had it.

I've had varying degrees of sickness from the flu over my life. I feel like I've got a pretty good immune system. I've had two cases of the flu put me on my ass, which led to pneumonia each time. That's something you don't want to mess around with. Both cases were after I turned 40.

Aside from those two instances, I haven't really stayed in bed due to a flu. I even had Covid twice and it wasn't that big of a deal aside from losing taste/smell for a few days. I was tired, but not to the point where I couldn't push through and keep working (from home, so as not to infect co-workers). My job, however, is not demanding physically, as my biggest workplace injury fear is carpal tunnel.

I'm pretty sure I'm giving myself carpal tunnel by years of playing StarCraft.

Never have, never will. Just like COVID.

I don't don't flu or colds.

Other health issues yes, those I can't help.

KC_Lee 09-11-2023 01:36 PM

Nope, never gotten one, not starting now. I get a 24 hour flu every year. Spend a day in bed with a couple of shots of Nyquil in me, feel fine the next day.

The "24-hour flu" isn't actually influenza.

Birthdayboy 09-11-2023 01:43 PM

I rarely get sick, and haven’t actually called in sick in a few years. But I did get influenza type A a few years ago (whatever that means) and was miserable for a few days.

Anyway, I usually get a flu shot (which is probably why I don’t usually get sick). Why not, right.

I have a job where I deal with the general disgusting public, though.

Yes, Required for Work. Just as the Covid19 shot was...
