I just do not understand our Running Back approach anymore. Why did it feel like pop was on a pitch count?

Is CEH RB1?

Yeah, it seemed like a preseason game in that regard, like they don't really know either, so let's get guys snaps.

That was Alex Smith though. We are not losing 5 games.

Exactly this.

But threads like this calling people out for being disappointed are horseshit. You can't afford to lose winnable games with the AFC race being as cluttered as we expect it to be. That's not gloom and doom, that's reality.

I hope this one isn't the difference between a bye or god forbid having to go on the road in January.

10 days to clean things up, and on to JAX.

Yeah, it is always tough dropping a game, especially so early in the season.

It’s OK, though. In a few weeks we’ll see that other teams have their warts to work through as well.

This loss just means we’ll need to steal one we probably should have lost later on. Instead of being able to go .500 in the Bills, Bengals, Eagles, Chargers x2, Jaguars, and Jets games, we’ll likely need to go closer to 4-3 or 5-2.

My favorite football team hung a Super Bowl championship trophy in their own house last night….and half of the fan base is acting like we are back to watching Tyler Palko lobbing ducks at Sean lachappelle.

Chill

Re: doom & gloom, after a pants-shitting loss it is acceptable for fans to bitch & moan and point out the flaws. It's expected, actually. Part of being a fan. You take the bad with the good. The bad makes the good that much sweeter (like Alice Eve's bouncy dairy cannons).

For the most part the team did well. The OL and D played really well against tough opposition. Mahomes was Mahomes. The backup TEs fared well; Noah Grey even had a great Kelce impersonation w/ excellent yac.

Rashee Rice looked really good after his signature first pass drop. Kicking game was on point.

Only lowlights: Moore and Toney were abysmal. The Belldozer sneak play happened again, and as usual failed miserably. We took the ball out of Mahomes' hand too many times. Those are all learning opportunities.

Burn the Belldozer play to the ****ing ground, then scorch and salt the ground where you burned it. NEVER run that ****ing stupid play again. It ****ing SUCKS and never ****ing works.

Treat short yardage plays like any other down. No cutesy bullshit. You have Mahomes - give him the opportunity to extend the drive. More often than not, he'll get it done.

Bench Toney and Moore. Elevate Rice and Ross. Send a message. That shit is unacceptable. You either figure it out, man up, or you are gone. Hell, maybe elevate James as well and bring Prince back for returns... or keep James as returner, decree fair catches mandatory, and give him more reps in the slot.

LaChapelle would have caught a few of those drops.

The biggest head scratcher for me on the night was why Andy decided to run the annexation of Puerto Rico inside the 3 on week 1 of the season….save that shit for week 5.

We blew the doors off the Pats in the banner drop 2014. They still won the SB that year. Week one means shit.

Was last night a bump in the road to our inevitable destiny to Super Bowl 58? Absolutely. Will there be clunkers like this some point this season? Happens to every team. We're the Chiefs, the golden boys of the NFL, the best team of all time, we'll be fine.

Bowser 09-08-2023 08:23 AM

How many passes were dropped last night? 7? 8?

I feel confident saying you won't see that again this season, much less FOUR drops from one guy. We gave one away last night and it sucks, but at least it was to an NFC team. We'll bounce back in a big way with a pissed off Mahomes, as Virus pointed out.

Yup. The Lions are a good team, and we were missing our first-ballot-HOF tight end. Toney was rusty. Those are fixable problems.

Getting the bye this year may be tough, but (barring injury) we should add two all pros to the roster by the end of the year. We'll be fine.

I know we will be fine, but coaches need to get out of their own way when it comes to Running Backs and snaps.

Look at that passing lane. And the ball placement... damn, that was beautifully executed up until the point of extreme incompetence on the receiver's part.
