We didn't draft Len Dawson, the Steelers did.

We didn't draft Trent Green, the Chargers did.

We did however draft a brokedick piece of shit by the name of Todd Blackledge. :banghead::banghead:

He was picked behind John Elway (#1, Baltimore) but ahead of Dan Marino (#27, Miami), astounding both Marino (who believed that he was better than Blackledge) and Blackledge himself (who had expected to be picked in the middle of the round). He was also drafted ahead of Hall of Famer Jim Kelly (#14 Buffalo), as well as Tony Eason (#15, New England) and Ken O'Brien (#22, New York Jets).

Factor in Jack Steadman and Jim Schaff and its very easy to see how we made the Blackledge pick.

At the time though, wasn't he a consensus good pick? Like, wow, the Chiefs got a good quarterback! Then...oops...

I don't know, I was living overseas and didn't really get to watch the Chiefs until the mid to late 80's.

Fair enough...considering the source...

I wanted Marino so bad but some bad press and injuries scared us away.

Bandwagoning fairweather Chiefs fans are the biggest antagonists on the issue

From what I remember being so young is that they thought he was a "thinking man's QB', a real smart player who could handle anything. He was winning a lot of awards and the Chiefs used that as a major reason for picking him.

A national champion his senior year with Penn State a predominantly running team. Curt Warner Tony Mumford RBs and Jon Williams at FB. that team was Joe Paternos first national champion. I think that swayed jack and Jim more than anything since neither was really football men more business guys.

Before the Indy playoff game last year, we were the only team in NFL history who had been to the playoffs and never won a playoff game with a QB we drafted.

To me that was always one of the most ridiculous stats ever.

Yeah, for a team to go their entire existence without being able to find talent at the QB position was a tragic flaw.

Mahomes has already reached the potential we all hoped he would. Win a Superbowl. Now we are talking Multiple Superbowls with this kid. With his drive, talent and young age, you would think the odds are better than any other QB in the NFL right now.
