The Redwoods??
Seriously, really?? Who's their Head Coach, Dick Schmoker?? |
I want to give the UFL a chance, but I also need a break from football for a few days to recharge my battery.
I think it's overkill to have it in the fall. No way I will watch the UFL over the Thursday night college game on ESPN. In addition, I will likely watch ESPN's MAC games on Wednesday October evenings over the UFL. |

If it was in the offseason I would like to watch it. Problem is that would run into problems with college, the draft, and so forth.

I would watch if DirectTV hadnt pulled Versus. I still think a Spring Football League would work. The thing is they need to due the NFL Europe like but have it in cities in the USA that would support it. All the other leagues failed bc they went after the NFL or wanted huge television numbers. XFL was great, I thought the level of play wasnt too bad trouble was they put it on primetime on national tv. Of course it was going to fail. Realistically 30 to 40k in attendance should be the benchmark, not the Neilsen ratings IMO.

Even though they're going up against some pretty good Thursday night college games, I don't think having it in the Fall is a huge deal, but why not advertise it as "Wednesday night is for the UFL" or whatever.... having a startup league on two stations and 4 different nights is the dumbest part about it, especially when people don't generally think "hmm, wonder if there's anything good on Versus right now". Maybe it's just a test to see which nights work best, but I think they're setting themselves up for failure. |

if i remember right their offer was in the ballpark of $850,000 which was the max that league would allow. when the eagles offered him like 4 times that for being a backup the choice was easy. not to mention he is still bankrupt and his lawyer and judge wouldnt have allowed him to take less money, i think he is still like 10 million dollars in dept. But overall this league seems like it might have some sustainability, look at some of the coaches already signed up (Dennis Green, Jim Hasslet, Jim Fassel, and Ted Cottrell) and some that could eventually sign up if it catches on (Mike Shannahan, Herm Edwards, John Gruden, Romeo Crennel, Bill Billick, Scott Linnehan, and maybe even Bill Cowher). ya they're leftovers who werent much in the NFL *except for cowher* but this could be a good selling point to viewers. |
