Remember these are normally teams Buffalo runs up the score on...Remember them bragging about "point differential"?

Alex Smith had many apologists. Is it really surprising that Josh has them too?

Trying to revise history to anoint a QB with no accomplishments above the level of the possible future GOAT goes beyond being an apologist.

They're fixated on his physical traits while forgetting that the mental aspect is equally important. And he's way behind there.

Cracks me up that they blame every Bills failure on the supporting cast when Allen is one of the most mistake-prone QBs in recent history.

Hammock Parties 09-12-2024 08:24 AM

Did Miami's defense get better? If not they lose, again.

Beta Tagovagiola

I'd be so ****ing pissed off if we had Tyreek Hill and were wasting him on that guy. Alex Smith would be better.

There hasn’t been a time when Allen was the one leaving the field in the playoffs having thrown the game losing INT or whatever. It’s ALWAYS his teammates.

Just trying to keep your logic consistent.

Allen failed to get them into the endzone and was forced to depend on a shitty kicker in a high pressure situation. You can't tell me that anyone in that stadium had faith in that kick. Hard to say Allen did his job on that drive. Not to mention he even tried to give the game away with a fumble and was damn lucky it was recovered, thanks to a Chiefs blunder.

Also, remember when he led his team to 10 points at home the year before, and got blown out? Remember when he threw 3 INTs in 2 playoff games in '22? Or when he completed just 52% of his passes in 2019?

Mahomes has rarely been supported by a good running attack, rarely been supported by good defense, and his offensive supporting cast has made numerous mistakes in playoff games. Turnovers, drops, etc.

This narrative is so desperate and laughable.

If Allen was drafted by KC, he has all the rings that Mahomes has. Thats not to say that Mahomes isn’t great - he is. But he was drafted into the BEST possible situation imaginable:

Mahomes was drafted to a team with:

1) A hall-of-fame offensive coach
2) A team with a hall-of-fame pass catching tight end
3) A team with a hall-of-fame wide receiver talent
4) A team that had made 5 of the last 6 playoffs
5) A team that had PLAYOFF wins with Alex freaking Smith

He was drafted to a DREAM scenario.

Allen on the other hand was drafted to a team with:

1) A rookie defensive head coach
2) A team with zero hall-of-famers
3) A team whose best receiver was Kelvin Benjamin
4) A team who missed 18 of the previous 19 playoffs

Allen was drafted into one of the absolute WORST situations.

If Allen & Mahomes switched draft places, Allen would have the rings and Mahomes would be seen as the 2nd best QB in the NFL. Just the way it is.

So yeah, Mahomes is no better than Allen. They’re equals, but Mahomes was lucky enough to be drafted into an elite situation.

I guess drool will work as well as spit

Miami's pretty talented across the board, and the Bills tend to shit the bed on the road. Plus, this is probably the weakest Bills roster in several years.

He was drafted to a DREAM scenario.

In the year 2017, the year Mahomes was drafted, the Chiefs would go one-and-done in the playoffs to the Marcus Mariota-lead Titans in the WC Round. This is the team Mahomes was drafted to.

1) A well-respected coach who couldn't win the big one and was a renowned playoff choke artist.
2) One of the best Tight Ends in the game, but definitely not Hall-of-Fame bound yet.
3) Also one of the best WR's in the league, but definitely not Hall-of-Fame bound yet.
4) Correct, but our playoff record in that time was 1-4. We were the doormat of the NFL for the actual playoff contenders. We were pretenders.
5) ONE (1) playoff win against Brain Hoyer.

Mahomes was drafted to what was considered a good, but not great team. Once he became the starting QB, everything changed.

1) Andy went from a playoff choke artist to the best Head Coach in the league destined for the HOF
2) Kelce's playoff heroics with Mahomes quickly had fans considering him next to Gronk as one of the GOAT Tight Ends.
3) Same with Tyreek. Mahomes exploited his speed and ability to stretch defenses like no other. Tyreek went from one of the best WR's in the game to one of the most dangerous offensive threats of all time.
4) We went from regularly being one-and-done losers in the playoffs to only ever going to Super Bowls and Championship Games w/ Mahomes.
5) The Chiefs playoff record from 2013-2017 was 1-4. The Chiefs playoff once Mahomes became starting QB is 15-3.

Those numbers don't make themselves up. Mahomes was the one that changed everything.

Love how he ignores that the Bills reached the playoffs the year before Allen arrived....with Tyrod Taylor under center.

Doesn't quite jive with "one of the absolute worst situations."

And McDermott is a very solid coach, despite making a few questionable decisions in the playoffs. The extent to which they throw him under the bus to prop up Allen is kind of sick.

Whatever helps you sleep at night. But Joshy isn't coming back from 24-0 in the playoffs LMAO.

As a passer, Mahomes is more accurate and has made all kinds of throws in crazy circumstances that we have yet to see Allen make.

Even as a runner, Mahomes is craftier and more elusive. But he’s also more strategic.

As a quarterback, Mahomes reads defenses better, sees the field better, and moves around in the pocket better.

As a field general, he has consistently shown more moxie when the game is on the line than any other QB in the history of the game. He inspires his teammates to be better. He is a proven champion.

I like your QB a lot. He might be number two. But he isn’t close to Mahomes.

Great post.

LMAO quality

Anytime you want to have the conversation, we can put down the three Lombardi trophies from the last five seasons and have it. I guess?

*edit - I see others have educated you, and there never really was a conversation to begin with

RunKC 09-12-2024 10:27 AM

This conversation happens every era.

“If John Elway was on those 49er teams they win at least 5 rings”

“If Jim Kelly or Dan Marino was on those Cowboys 90’s teams he’d win 3 rings minimum”

“If Peyton Manning was the QB for the Patriots instead of Tom they’d have won as many or more rings than Tom Brady”

I agree that the Bills are holding Josh Allen back with bad coaching and bad drafts but that’s the reality.

I refuse to consider Marino or Kelly in the conversation for top 10 of all time.

If you can't win a championship, you're a lesser player. If we've learned NOTHING over the last 2 years, we should've learned that. Mahomes willed this team to those titles.

Maybe Allen wins one of 'em...but I kinda don't think he does. Mahomes had to be so precise and so timely in his efforts that I think it gets overlooked just how incredible he was in those games.

That Eagles game may be the best Super Bowl ever played in terms of pure quality of play by both sides. And Mahomes came out on top. Marino wouldn't have. Kelly wouldn't have.

Allen, IMO, wouldn't have.

Winning a ring doesn't put you in the conversation with the all time greats {cough}Aikman{coughcough} but not winning one keeps you out of it.

Mahomes would've won a championship in Buffalo by now. Because he's that !@#$ing good.
