My poor girls got into a fight with a stray and has since been very lethargic, her left eye is closed more and that side of her jaw is swollen. Pulled a cat claw out of her the other day that I thought was a scab. Poor girl.

Keep an eye on her. Our cat was acting similar, lethargic and lame. Turned out to be a bite that had become infected. Had to go on antibiotics which caused a bunch of diarrhea for a week. The joys of pet ownership.

Hope she feels better soon.

She did indeed get cat clawed and formed an abscess. It broke open yesterday spewing puss all over her face. But she is back to her normal self now, for the most part. Looks nasty. My poor baby. :(

They said to just hold a warm, wet, mildly hand soapy cloth against it for a minute or so a few times a day to keep it clean. She's getting used to that. It's dusty here. It just is. So this is the important part.Peroxide is a no no apparently. And she cleans it herself with her left paw.

Thank you for the concern.

Poor thing! I also have a black cat and mine is outdoors 90% of the time. He used to come home all sorts of beat up until we had his beans clipped.

The day before yesterday I noticed a huge weeping wound on the side of his face. I gave it a little squeeze and it was like I had popped a zit brimming with blood. I have it a few more squeezes until it stopped weeping then poured betadine over the wound and dabbed it clean. From there its just been a warm clean washcloth whenever I see him.

I expect your cat will come through with no issues... minus, perhaps, one of their 9 lives gone.

I've had that in the past, and yes, I've heard peroxide is a no-no because they will inevitably ingest it. But the last time I had it happen to one of our cats (back in the 80s!!!!), they did give us a topical antibiotic ointment to put on/in twice a day. I remember it because it well because the cat tried to do some bloodletting on me for trying to do what I was told. Leather jackets and gloves made it all possible. :thumb:

And yes, I care about all animals. Except deer, I shoot those ****ers! Then we eat them!

Glad to hear she's getting back to normal. Cats are badasses like that.

We have a city lot with a gnarly alley behind us. Cats back there don't **** around. Saw a cat fight yesterday on my neighbors deck. They were knocking furniture over going at it. I was in awe and sad at the same time.

lewdog 11-21-2020 03:50 PM

Get better eDave's cat. That looks gnarly.

Our black cat passed last year at only 7 years unexpectedly. We got a new cat at the end of last year and he's the most gentle thing with the 2 year old who literally tackles and squeezes him. He just lets it happen and absolutely adores his little friend.

Our son will sit next to him on a chair and look at us saying "Look at these guys!"

Tony and Otis' first birthday was March 10th. Yesterday my sis and law and my niece and nephew came over for lunch and to play with the kitties. They aren't allowed to have pets in their rental house. So they come visit ours occasionally. Tony and Otis got a bunch of cat treats and a big cardboard box to play in. They're very good with the kids. Here's Tony playing with the kids after lunch:

Had to put my 14 year old chocolate lab down tonight. He’d had hip problems his whole life (had one replacement) and had recently had a lot of airway issues. Was finally time.

Sorry for your loss. I know the feeling all too well.

Hammock Parties 05-07-2021 03:37 PM

OK. I'm narrowing down my choices.

Doberman
Bluetick Coonhound (or Treeing Walker)
Rhodesian Ridgeback
Greater Swiss Mountain Dog

That dobie breeder I found only does them with cut ears...savages.

Our kitty Tony is in the Independence Animal Hospital. I took this picture last night and he looked fine. He was hanging out with Otis on top of their kitty condo. This morning he didn't come to breakfast -which never happens- and he was lethargic and laying under the dining room table. Mrs B. took him to the Vet. He had a temp of 103 and was throwing up. They think he may have eaten something that either poisoned him or gave him an internal blockage. They'll do xray tomorrow. They gave him antibiotics and some fluids and need to keep him until they know what's going on. I'm very worried about my little bubby. He's only 14 months old. Hold a good thought for him, will ya guys?

Update on Tony G. Cat: Bubby is home. He’s still a little wobbly, but he ate some breakfast and he’s moving around a little better this morning. Still not out of the woods yet. Have to keep watch on him for a few more days. But so glad to have him back home. He ate some of my cheeseburger last night (he loves cheeseburgers) and laid down next to me under the ceiling fan and watched Red Sox/Blue Jays game with me last night. He's got some meds we have to give him, but this morning he was doing a lot better. He's only 14 months old.

His vet bill was $175. Reminds me of Rick Moranis in the movie "Head Office." He says 'My wife just paid a $100 vet bill on a 15 year old cat. For $75 we could have gotten him a suite at the Hyatt!"

175 is a steal sadly I've spent a nice downpayment on a car. I should have been a vet!

I brought my two little boy kittens home one year ago Fathers Day weekend, and we adopted their mama cat too. They were going to give away all six of her kittens and then send her back to Cat Jail. We couldn't have that. Otis (the smoke black kitten) still loves to curl up and sleep next to Tina the mama cat, and Otis and Tony (the orange tabby) love to chase and play with each other. They are all healthy and happy and we're so glad we adopted them. Picture from a year ago before we brought them home:

Are any of you familiar with breeder scams?

I met this guy last week and met his puppies. I wanted to meet the parents before I made a decision on buying one of his pups.

Was supposed to meet him today and he calls me 30 minutes before the meeting and says the male has died and he has to reschedule.

Something seems "off" here.
