I believe that's because they know he's making the team so Spags wants to see if he has any defensive value.

It probably wouldn't be "great" if Toub wanted to keep Johnson, Connor, BJ Thompson and Nic Jones and Spags thought none of them provided anything on defense. I mean hell Deon Bush played like 70% of the ST snaps last year so it'll be interesting to see the battle between those 2 coaches on who stays.

You keep saying this, but the day before he got reps with the 1s, he broke up multiple passes and apparently had a great practice, so it seems more like he earned those reps.

I wonder what he possibly showed that would allow this at such an early point in TC

This sounds like a viable option. Also both 3rd db had poor pff grades despite their big play moments

Right, but reps with the 1's are a premium. They could discern that from letting him run with the 2's.

Nazeeh Johnson has been my irrational sleeper candidate/crush from way back. Admittedly it was based entirely on him looking good on a few ST plays and someone saying he ran a sub 4.4, but I'm going to keep claiming it as pure scouting acumen. Unless he's on the practice squad, and then f*** that bum obviously.
