Here's how you tell who's valuable in the NFL and who isn't:

Dollars left on current contracts...

Aqib Talib $57 million
Anthony Collins $30 million

William Moore $25.9
Justin Smith $13.3 million
Sheldon Richardson $8.2 million
Chase Daniel $8.2 million

Darrell Stuckey $7.4 million
Jeremy Maclin $5.2 million
Aldon Smith $4.5 million
Sean Weatherspoon $4.1 million

Chris Harris $2.2 million
Tanner Hawkinson $1.9 million

Blaine Gabbert $1.8 million
Steven Johnson $.5 million

So you would say the Chiefs were not better off with the emergence of Dontari Poe last year and would have been just as well served with, say, Jerrell Powe, in the middle of their defensive line?
:thumb:

I don't know what you're asking. I've addressed all the questions. I cannot address anything that doesn't have objectivity attached to it however. As for Dontari Poe: he's a good player just as Richardson is. But the DT position isn't all that valuable. If it were, the Chiefs wouldn't have suffered such a drastic drop-off when Hali/Houston left.

If Dontari was so good, why did the defense suck so badly the 2nd Half of 2013 despite him playing every game? Fact: DE/OLB/CB are the valuable defensive positions. Justin Smith & Aldon Smith are far more valuable than Sheldon Richardson.

LOL ...so a mid first round rookie who signs a five year, $20MM contract is more valuable than Richardson who *only* has $8MM left on his contract. Got it. That definitely simplifies things.

When researching this I was actually surprised by how many mizzou players are playing in their final year of the contract. Why don't teams want to resign players from mizzou or give them long term deals? Is there something wrong with Pinkel players?

You're right, the most current Mizzou crop would have been far better playing at KU the last few years under Weis and Gill (who have CLEARLY out coached Pinkel) and much more NFL ready; with all KU's many recent NFL success stories and all . . . . my bad.

Missouri-Kansas Border War rivalry could be renewed at softball regional

“We wanted to keep the tradition going,” Missouri junior Corrin Genovese told Rivals.com, speaking about the rivalry. “They backed out, they felt disrespected. But for us to be the first team to play them after that went down, I think it's a big statement game. KU's done everything they can to avoid us the last couple years playing, so they might lose the first round, you never know.”

Kansas, 32-21, advanced to an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2006, while Missouri, 41-16, is playing host to a regional for the sixth straight season.

“For the last five years, every player and staff member has worked extremely hard for this moment,” KU softball coach Megan Smith said.

No kidding. Iowa State plays nine conference games, AND Iowa from the B1G every year. Honestly we only schedule one true cupcake a year. We typically schedule someone like Tulsa/NIU/North Dakota/UNI with another spot... But I guess that's why we've had a top 5 hardest schedule every year under CPR.

At a news conference held by Texas A&M's board of regents Monday to provide an update on the $450 million renovation of Kyle Field, a board member said he'd want the new name to include a reference to the 2012 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback, who was selected in the first round of the NFL draft by the Cleveland Browns.

"My vision is that someday I hope the Aggie nation will come together and decide that we can revise the name of Kyle Field to 'Kyle Field -- The House That Johnny Built,'" board member Jim Schwertner said.
