The Athletic has an article up about each NFL team's best off season move. Most seemed to emphasize the positive even if the franchise wasn't in the best shape, such as Arizona, Atlanta, Chicago, etc. Vic Tafur, who writes about the Raiders, was an exception. He seems to hate his team and his job. This is his description of the Raiders' "best" off season move:

"Signing guard Greg Van Roten. Hear me out … It can’t be signing Jimmy Garoppolo after you find out the quarterback needs foot surgery. It can’t be adding wide receiver Jakobi Meyers in what was essentially a swap for Darren Waller, given the eagerness with which the Patriots moved on from Meyers. The defensive moves in free agency were all largely for depth, besides a couple of plug-in starters. Drafting Tyree Wilson and Michael Mayer seems wise, but they slipped because of a foot injury and lack of athleticism, respectively, and the Raiders haven’t earned any benefit of the doubt. So … signing a tough guy in Van Roten — 33 years old and coming off a four-start season with the Bills — to either start or boost the team’s depth is the crown jewel of the offseason."

I read the article and Tafur's comments were the only ones to make me say "Ouch." Makes me think that Raiders are kind of like the Cowboys and the Commanders. They won't get better until they get a better owner.

Mark seems to make a higher and then get out of the way. Those choices just haven't worked out. Maybe an Andy Reed type coach will come along after they go through their Patriots east faze just like the Chiefs did.

ROFL Oh my goodness that had me laughing my butt off.

What's even funnier is that despite how bad the Raiders have been, they still own a 7 game win streak over Denver.

Great position the Chiefs are in as they are the top dogs right now. Everyone is trying to knock them off that perch. Every team will give them their best and that will help the Chiefs improve or falter.

Raiders have been sucking ballz for a long time but I would argue the only thing they have going for them is the badass silver and black. Best in the NFL and not even close ;)

Of course I'm referring to the old days when they had badasses on those historic teams.......Carr is the poster boy of one who never deserved to wear that jersey. Pussy boy still pisses me off

Don’t deserve? Every win against the raiders, regardless of who they are playing, is deserved. They are the literal spawn of Lucifer fallen and Oakland whores, shit stains on the record of mankind, and they likely DO kiss their mothers with those mouths.

Every win against the raiders is deserved because every loss they sustain is deserved. **** the raiders.

You never been there but you think it's a shithole?

I mean if it’s full of raider fans…

BUT, is it or is it not the same stadium that had the sewer running up into the dugouts during an A’s game?

It was old and rough but it had character. Raiders went from the cheapest game ticket then to now the most expensive.

Some might not feel safe walking down the streets next to the coliseum.

Definite shithole but it was our shithole lol. I have many memories at the HOT (House of Thrills) in its day. Tailgating was second to none. Most fans were from the greater Bay Area and Central Valley. The City of Oakland itself was/is a definite shithole.

Have you been to Arrowhead?

Do you know what second to none means?

Does not mean best. Means none are better. Arrowhead knows how to tailgate, but it isn't better than the other great tailgate stadiums around the league. Not worse either.

HENDERSON, Nev. — Aidan O’Connell took the podium on Tuesday afternoon, a weekly appearance that signifies the Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback will be starting again against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday night.

Raiders coach Antonio Pierce had said Monday that he was still evaluating whether to make a change at quarterback and other positions after the team’s third straight loss, a brutal 3-0 ordeal to the Minnesota Vikings. But the fact that the Raiders are on a short week seems to have been a factor in sticking with O’Connell over going back to veteran Jimmy Garoppolo.

Could Garoppolo return for the Christmas Day game against the Kansas City Chiefs if O’Connell doesn’t greatly improve on last Sunday’s eight-first-downs performance? Very likely.

It depends on the rookie.

His coach picks have been awful but his rosters have always had talent. Meh

That's such a weird hire.
