This is true.

But 28-3.

That thread will break CP. There will be top shelf posts, gifs and so forth.

I haven't had a chance to read this whole thread yet, but didn't someone here predict this was coming?

milkman 06-03-2017 06:04 AM

Doesn't matter.

As DJ's Left Nut has pointed out so effectively, Alex Smith is Even Steven.

Maclin or no Maclin, Smith is going to produce essentially the same numbers as he always does.

I'm guessing Demarcus Robinson has a good year. A lot like Steven Nelson. Special Teams rookie year, and contributor year 2

Thanks goodness he is gone.

I don't see anyone ready to step up and be our no 1.

Perhaps we think we can trade/sign one during the preseason...

Not sure. However, there was an article written a couple of months back about why the Chiefs could do this. It suggested that it would be "unpopular" but also would make good sense.

Is there a defense out there actually scared of our offense right now?

Double Hill with a single high safety, bracket Kelce and see if the nobodies can beat you?

Is that the easiest gameplan in the NFL right now or what. Like I can't wait for checkdowns to CJ Spiller, I'm really excited for this season. One reads to Hill or Kelce and immediate dump off to some scrub.

See milkmans post, right above you. Alex don't need no number 1 silly! He will do the same no matter who is lining up at wr.

The future is bright, only one more year of QB hell!

Maclin was gone a lot, so in reality the Chiefs never had a #1.

Exactly...I think what's going on here is the Chiefs are quietly clearing the way for the Mahomes era that could begin next season. Some of the moves they're making now might be unpopular this season, but make sense and need to happen. The trick to cutting veteran players is being able to realize when they "hit the wall" in their careers. Get it right, and you're good. Hold on too long, and you're not. Balance that between how the contracts are structured...The Chiefs aren't sacrificing this season as some have suggested. They know with or without certain high priced players, they'll be in contention record-wise, but the reality is they'll only get so far with Smith. So, give the reps to the young guys and help them develop, so they will be ready to help the young QB when he steps in. Now is the right time for the moves so we can set the stage going forward.

Crazy and somewhat unexpected move.

Some thoughts before I read through the thread...

Last year, he looked like he hit the wall for vet receivers. Looked slow, not as physical and even disinterested. Age and injuries seem to have caught up to him.

Looking long term, every move needs to be made so Mahomes steps in with pieces around him to help him succeed and Maclin was in decline. Give those reps and targets to the young guys that will still be here when Mahomes takes over.

Andy is one of Jeremy's best friends, I'm sure he knew this was coming.

The team had 2 real cost effective options to clear cap space ... extend/restructure Alex (which he's publicly said he was open to) or cut Maclin. Looking at the big picture, this was a smart move. Can't pay Ferrari money and get corrola production.

It's no mistake or coincidence that this move was done June 2nd. This splits the dead money and gives flexibility with the cap to work an extension or 2. I'm thinking Dee Ford, Terrance Mitchell and Bennie Logan are the guys in line for possible in season extensions.

Maybe they have their eye on a player they feel gets cut that they feel can help KC this year.

If the cap space isn't used this year, it will be rolled into next year to use effectively.

Anyways, I'm perfectly fine with this move.

So they cut reid's two time hand picked wr days after he attends his wedding and there are still people thinking there is no way they would just cut Alex Smith next year?

Idiots
