In your frigid waters, a belly boat will likely have you buying waders as well, which is going to get expensive (though if you get into fishing in Colorado, you may want waders eventually anyway). I'd look into a kayak over a canoe, unless you're looking to take multiple people fishing with you.

Here's a good place to start:

It will mostly be me and the boy, although I'm sure I'll have to haul the wife around as she suns herself.

If you get a kayak, you can do this:

Of course... this could always happen:

You don't need anything special to crappie fish, just grab you a few dozen minnows and go get em

I could only go for a few hours (8am to noon) had to come back home and nap so I can work tonite, but the fishing was not good today but the weather was and on top of that I don't have to beg the wife to go with me all I gotta say is lets go fishing and she is ready to go. :thumb:

The white bass run is on here. Sadly, I'm leaving town for my Spring Break (actually not that sad, since I'm going to Palm Beach).

Also if you are gonna crappie fish get some aberdeen style hooks and a pair of needle nose pliers to put in your pocket...
http://www.basspro.com/Gamakatsu-Cra...ct/15834/55463

Aberdeen hooks have a longer shaft (like me) and it's easier to remove from the fish mouth unless they gut swallow it.

If they have the hook in a vital area and you don't want to keep the fish and he isn't bleeding, cut the line and let the fish go, sometimes they will live.

On days like that I say, "The fishing was great, it's just the catching that didn't go so good."

Yup, My wife is competitive when it comes to fishing, she always wants to catch the biggest or the most and talks trash when she does, I spend most of my time putting her on the spots to catch them...

Thunderstorm rolling thru now so if I had been out there I would be wet

This time of year is brutal for fishing here in the KC area. Weather is great, but water temp just isn't there yet. I'm sellin my boat, so I'm gonna do more canoeing this year

Even more awesome when the big hybrids and full-on stripers start getting mixed in with them.
