Even more evidence convincing me Pioli won't go to Cleveland. How is that job better than his current one if the owner won't let him pick the coach? Pioli's going to be in NE or KC.
Though Cleveland has interviewed general managers and head coaching candidates, the Browns have told people around the league that it is most critical to get the head coaching hire right and they could wind up hiring a head coach first. http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/01/03/mcda...-in-cleveland/ |

If true, Cleveland is really ****ing themselves. |

I think it all comes down to money now. How much is Clark willing to shell out? |
Just saw on ESPNNEWS that Mangini is the leading candidate for the Browns' job...basically the rumor is that they'll either hire him or Pioli but not both.
Mary Kay Cabot from the Cleveland Plain Dealer was on and said that they're waiting to see what Pioli does and if he turns them down, they'll hire Mangini. This is potentially great news for us. |
Here's the thing:
Even IF Pioli turns down Cleveland, (or they turn down him) I just don't see Clark hiring him without interviewing anyone else on his list. |

If Cleveland's not going to happen for Pioli then there's no competition for him. The Chiefs can take their time and review all their options before entrusting all their faith in one man like they did for years with Carl Peterson. Pioli would likely fire everybody - Kuharich, Farmer, Cook, etc. Some of these guys have worked for the Chiefs for more than a decade. Clark might look around and see if there's someone he thinks is just as talented and can fit in with the rest of the organizational structure before making that leap. |
So if Clark and Pioli met today or whenever, Clark makes him an offer, Pioli says he'll take it...you really think Clark would tell him that he's going to interview other candidates first?
Wow. I think Clark is going to put the full court press on Pioli and do all it takes to get him signed and if he can't, move on after that. |

He wouldn't make the offer if he's intent on interviewing other candidates. |
