Villanova fouls very little (51st in the country in fouls per game) and limits possessions to an extreme extent, so if there is any team that can handle such a personnel deficit it is them.

If they just hit their season average of 15 per game, that would mean their entire lineup will finish with 3 fouls each if distributed perfectly even. That’s unlikely, so you have to assume they’ll have someone in foul trouble. And they have no bench right now.

That 15 per game is also probably lower when playing worse opponents.

They’ll either have to play really soft on defense or just get lucky to avoid foul trouble. The numbers just simply aren’t in their favor when they’re down so many guys.

Kansas can absorb foul trouble to any one starter. Maybe even 2 starters.

Nova can’t absorb foul trouble to any starter without having to play a total scrub.

When you play someone who sucks. You want to ensure you get as many possessions as possible as it helps even out variance. You are the better team. You want to play as long and as many possessions as possible. Its just math.

They have a Top 15 recruit who plays less than 5 mpg and is a junior. Has kinda had an injury riddled career but quite puzzling whats going on there. Im sure he can defend at least but Im praying Wright goes with an Arcidiacano for sheer nostalgic value for what that shithead did to us last Final Four.
