IF HE IS THE BACKUP THEN HE BETTER BE GOD DAMNED ****ING READY BECAUSE IT WILL BE HIS JOB TO GO IN AT ANY POINT IN ANY GAME. THAT IS THE JOB OF A BACKUP IS TO BE READY HE MAY HAVE TO START THE VERY NEXT WEEK. |

That's why I'm talking specifically about the playbook. |

He is more likely going get our guys clobbered on errant throws and you expect him to be backup ok. Get our receivers killed. Patrick was head and shoulders above Bray yesterday man. |

Knowing the basic formation wasn't what I was talking about..it was how to USE that formation in specific situations. |

Tyler Bray has been a third string backup and hasn't got one play regular season on his resume. They only gave him #2 because he has been here longer but he sure hasn't earned it beating anyone out.

With Reid's offense, I'm not sure it's the size of the playbook even as much as getting the playcalls right. With Reid, Gruden, etc... there are plenty of articles and videos out there talking about that challenge. You have these 15 word playcalls... and if they have to call multiple plays in the huddle that's a whole other challenge. The QB has to be completely on top of it or the whole tempo of the offense is ruined.
|
Quote:
It's a win/win for me..if Reid thinks he can handle the #2 as a rookie...that's fantastic. |
Quote:
I'm excited for Patrick to get to play this season but I want him ready. Week one against the Pats I'd sit him with no temptation of putting him in but pray Alex doesn't get hurt but then again I feel strongly about Patrick being able beat out Tyler Bray. It's thin ice what to do. I mean you can't have a winner and then say no you're not going suit up and lie about winning the backup. I think Patrick can handle it better than Bray regardless but I'm not wanting him in that first game. Ideal late in the season depending on how our season is going with Alex Smith. So much football has yet to be played and determine what is for the best. |
Smitty beats Brady week 1. You heard it here first

Even if they lose...the idea of opening the entire season in front of million vs. the SB champs will make their TC more focused than usual...how could it not? It's been brought up everyday... |

I expect an emphasis on Kelce and Hill. I'm not worried about the D unless a major injury happens.

Honest question (I really don't know). When was the last time a 1st round QB began their rookie season (regular season) as the #3 QB on the depth chart?

i was going to crack a joke about it being todd blackledge. then i wiki'ied him.
you know what he is doing for a career right now? ROFL a high school BASKETball coach ROFL in canton, ohio ROFL seems kinda stalkerish of him to be so close to the hall of fame. i guess he finally realized football wasn't his bread and butter sport. :D |
BTW Smitty holds some NFL Records...
First quarterback to lead two lead changing drives in the final 2 minutes (2011 divisional playoffs versus Saints) Most consecutive passes in the Playoffs without an Interception (119) Perfect game (158.3 QBR) vs Raiders Week 15 2013 Most consecutive passes without an interception: 312 (Week 3–Week 14, 2015) 2nd all-time in NFL history |

Penbrook hasn't always been this absurd, has he? I remember light ribbing over Twitter etiquette, but am I the only to to sense he's gone off his rocker this offseason?

Picking sides is just some dumb-ass, junior high thing that was invented on CP...by some dumb-ass fans with no lives. It's gotten so ****ed-up they actually want Smith to fail/get hurt...just to potentially feel about right about something for the first time in their existence. If they are wrong...they will just start the same shit towards Mahomes. I'm enjoying KC beating the piss out of our rivals...getting 6 national games and going 12-4. |

Both sides are presenting legit perspectives, but it seems as if both sides are tired of the other, so they need to ramp up their "camp" to be justified in their stance. Whatever; keep on keepin' on. Just found it odd that penbrook became such an Alex fan seemingly overnight, which I truly don't believe happened. I just think he has gotten himself so invested in his stance, that he feels obligated to continue to double down on it, which is only ingniting the issues as opposed to extinguishing it, as he most likely, previously, had hoped. |
Quote:
The rest is just horseshit...he looks good throwing bombs though as does Bray. Mahomes looks better than I thought he would at this point...which is great. |

As for understanding everything about the playbook and defenses, Favre/Detmer conversation comes to mind:
[Farve] said ‘Ty, I gotta ask you a question.’ And Ty was just about as goofy as I was. He says, ‘What’s that?’ And I say, ‘What’s nickel defense?’ He gets real quiet. He says, ‘Are you serious?’ I said ‘Yeah, I’m serious.” He says, ‘Well, they basically take out a linebacker and bring in a DB.’ I said, ‘That’s it?’ He said, ‘Thats it!’ I said, ‘Who gives a [expletive]?’ |

I can't remember who Kizer is behind. I looked at it yesterday and yeah, he was #3, I think...ahead of Hogan at number 4. Kessler is #1...can't remember who #2 is. Oh wait, Osweiler!!! Yeah, that's all gonna change. |

What's the story with Justin Houston so far? Is he on the field and dominating? Is he being wheeled around like Stephen Hawking? Somewhere in between? I've reached the point where I would believe any answer in this spectrum.

Really that would have been cool. We only had three DB come by and Eric Murray was the only one I knew the other guys were scrubs but they wanted to feel important and celebrity like so I let them sign my leather old school helmet even though it really didn't matter. I think Eric Murray is having a good camp seems like a cool dude. |
